Come on, guys! Don't you remember that constitutional amendment that says that only heterosexual married people have rights? I'm sure it must say it somewhere in there. All people are created equal, but does that mean we have to treat them equally fairly? Awwww!

This is a sad time for all Americans.

How does this make him a dictator? He stated that the federal government, the one of which he *is* the head, has a new health care policy. He didn't state that any other corporate, private, or government entity was required to follow suit. So I ask, how is he a dictator? He certainly did not require me to work for the federal government, nor did he require me to get unmarried, nor did he require me to have a same sex partner. Hmmm...still can't figure out in what sense he would be considered a dictator.

It's been proven many times - drinking and posting is a bad combination....

eta: add dropping acid to that list...

The brown acid that is circulating around us isn't too good. It is suggested that you stay away from that. Of course it's your own trip. So be my guest, but please be advised that there is a warning on that one, ok?"

your post is meaningless, David Ey. You've failed to actually support your argument and make bald assertions like "Obama is a dictator" and "what he did is unconstitutional" and yet, fail to make reference to the political science definition of dictator and relate to us what actions of Obama's meet this criteria, AND you fail to engage any constitutional analysis of the laws or policies passed that are contrary to a named and specific section or sections of the US Constitution.

Your bigotry is showing. You might want to cover it up lest a gay black person happens upon you.

Ouch! Good reply.

I'm an American I don't don't understand it either. *shrug* I'm also proud to be living in the newest state to allow same sex unions-- New Hampshire!!!

Can popcorn be accepted as a breakfast cereal? If so, pass some over here.

Is this a "same sex" benefit, or for anyone living together?

It's a sad day in America when we ignore real problems and focus on division and hate. Indeed.

Based on the American news shows and comedy routines we see here, Vice Presidents, much like Deputy Prime Ministers, are treated as somewhat of a joke and are really only taken seriously if the numero uno croaks it while in office. This certainly seemed to be true with Gore and Biden. Why then does Cheney break this mould?

I can't find a reference, but Cheney, since the Nixon administration, has apparently felt that the president doesn't have enough power. He was in charge of finding W. a VP, and nominated himself, and as VP, manipulated the administration. In all fairness, the VP has quite a lot of responsibilities allotted to the position.

Kind of an aside - I don't get US television and don't pay much attention to the political hoopla... anyway, I was paying a bill at the bank (a US affiliate for the military folks) and they had the TV on. Apparently one of the late night guys made a joke about Palin that didn't go over well. She retaliated (or her people did) and there was a brief quote that they showed that said something about "our brave men and women in uniform" from her camp. My question - did any of the joke or perceived attack have anything to do with the military? I ask, because it does irk me when "our brave men and women in uniform" are brought into any of that stuff if there's no correlation.

Yeah, Letterman screwed up and made a sexual joke about her daughter at a baseball game, but it wasn't her 18 yr old who went to the baseball game, it was her 14 yr old daughter. oops

Don't know why she brought the military into it. That's weird.

edited to take out my opinion of Palin. :P

Well, I thought more of you would have been more familiar with the constitution and the authority of the president. I see I was wrong.
This post had nothing at all to do with sexual orientation or race or whether or not everyone needs insurance or even who qualifies for marriage. When Obama has meddled in your business enough and rendered your dollars worthless maybe then you will understand. Have a nice day.

Perhaps for us poor uninformed you could actually offer specifics to support your point.

The funny part is, with her track record, his comment wasn't really that far off base.

Having heard Letterman roast people for years, I really thought his remark wasn't particularly bad.

Of course, Sarah has already demonstrated all the social graces of a rabid dog.

Except that there are no specifics to support your point.

I don't agree with you in the slightest.

I'm asking you to support your attack.

I doubt that you can.

I actually am curious. My American history/jurisprudence/powersthatbe info is not all that hot (even though I do work for the federal government) so I'm not sure what has gone down (so to speak) or why it is not within the purview of the office of the President. I suppose I can go google, but one always gets the condensed two-second view that way.
