I went to a workshop presented by André Gallant about photo montages a couple of weeks ago and started trying the technique. The original idea is to take two or three slides and then sandwich all three pieces of film into one mount. I just applied the idea to photoshop based on suggestions from the workshop.
My first real attempt:

Very different. I like this and would like to see more. I don't know if you did this right, but it sure looks good. WOW.
P.S. Just looked at André Gallant web site. Beautiful work, I'll need a few days to see it all.

I just bought the book 'Photo Impressionism' and will probably be trying all the montage techniques described there. The book is co-authored by André Gallant and Freeman Patterson. Both their websites are worth checking out.

Cool André Gallant lives in the same province as me. Works out of Moncton sometimes (where I'm from). Very cool.

P.S.
Colette this technique is something your good at, and you should run with it for posters. Really a different look. Soft and the color is lovely. I think it would be popular for prints. :) |

Thank you. I'm waiting for print approval for the one I posted. (12 x 6 panorama). I've just started experimenting so who knows what I will come up with.

Another type of montage is the mirror montage. This is where you take one image and overlay two different orientations.
How many faces do you see here:
