Okay, so I never got the Sony-F717 that I gave all the hype about and yadda-yadda. But I was finally asked the question that I have been waiting for ALL year..."Honey, what do you want as a graduation gift from us?" I could see it in their faces, and they knew EXACTLY what I was going to say. Well, after talking, doing MUCH research, budgeting and comparing, I have decided I am going to go with the Sony DSC-V1. It isn't a for sure with the folks yet, they are trying to talk me out of it because of the price ($499), but I argued that it is much less than a lap-top and other cameras I REALLY want. So, they haven't decided yet, but I hope they pleasantly surprise me, I don't know, we'll see what happens and I will keep ya updated.

When I upgrade it's probably going to be the F828 mainly because it uses the same memory, batteries that my current camera uses. Don't forget about the quick charger too.
When I first looking for a digital camera I was choosing between the F707 or the one I currently owned. The main reason that I didn't go with the F707 was because of how big it was. Now I crave the features of the larger F-series cameras.
I guess I'm just a "Sony Zombie". Almost every electronic item I own has those 4 letters S_O_N_Y.
"If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will..." yoda .
Edit: Congratulations on your graduation.
Edit 2: Sony Cybershot Club.

keep pushing for it...
When I graduated back in 1986, I got a new Stereo with a CD player ( yes a CD player was a BIG deal back then) , dual cassett deck, nice eq and amp, turn table and some HUGE speakers (15" woofers). Cost in 1986 = $714. My parrents wanted me to get a MUCH cheaper unit, but I said NO....yes I was a spoiled brat back then....I still am now, but I pay for my own goodies now.

...bet it saw a Bon Jovi album or two! :o)
I remember begging my parents for a CD player/stereo for graduation in '87...and got it. It was a (measly) $600.00 then. Keep asking; eventually they will buy you the camera just to get you to be quiet! :o)

My folks and I always had a "matching" grant approach to major purchases -- if I could save up for half the cost, they'd match that for the rest ... my Sony 1/4" reel-to-reel tape recorder was $400 in 1968 dollars ... |

Graduation present? Bah! When I was a kid the school kicked you out at 15 whether you passed your exams or not. No proms, no graduation, just a "so have you got a job yet?" from your parents the following Monday. |

Well, after talking with the folks, it appears that I have been able to do enough talking and I think I am going to get it some time next week! Hooray!

I'll do a little happy dance for you...hurray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now if I could talk my mom into doing that...don't guess it works for a 34 year old!
Way to go, and congrats on graduation!
