Woo Yeah! I got a new high. Did anyone else?

It's only my fifth challenge and I placed 14th. I just had to do a little happy dance. This is probably the last time I'll get to brag in a long time, so I'm going to do it while I have the chance. I wasn't even sure if I should enter it, since I didn't know if I liked it.

What's really funny is that I think my proportion photo was my best shot so far and it got the second lowest score. I was very discouraged after that, but figured I should get back on the horse.

I never expected to do well here because there are so many WONDERFUL photographers. I'm in awe of many of the photographs around here and am exceptionally happy that I did well among this group. Especially in a group of 440 entries...

Woo Yeah!

Well done on your 14th place.
I didn't get a shot I was happy with entering into the rust challenge as I wanted something unusual to shoot. Your image is just the type of thing i was looking for.
Of the 2 pictures i feel that the rust shot is the better. The focus on the lower bud in the proportions challenge is just that bit out of focus which is probably why you got a lower score on it.

I really liked your photo too biblio, I'm really enjoying this site after only one submission. I think though that although it's got to give you a bit of a rush to get a ribbon, the main goal is just to get better. As tastes vary widely as to what is good or bad, i'm thinking that anything with an average score is probably good execution OR idea but anything in the top third is probably good execution AND idea. of course,...imho

Oh yes, I actually sneaked in a couple of steps above you with my rusty ol' Love Bug. Great kick to be "up there" in such a huge bunch of images. Think it was my fifth too, guess we got here about the same time. 39 comments to go with that - reloading the page was just plain fun all the way.

Good luck in the following rounds. I know I'm out of the two current for sure, sitting at 5.low with both of them :-)

Congratulations on your good results! It is fun isn't it?

I also had my highest score in the Rust challenge (I guess there was a 50% chance, though, since it was only my second challenge). After reading several times how scores tend to drop over the week of voting, I was a little surprised to watch my score rise throughout the week and then I saw this morning that I had finished 6th out of 443. Quite a pleasant surprise. Like you said, I better enjoy this one, in case future results are not quite so encouraging.

I got my 3rd highest percentile (84%) It wasn't nearly my highest score, but the percent is great for me. I'm very happy with my placing.

congrats on the new high... that's a nice/unique image.

Mine's not a personal high. I'm quite pleased with the result though. Like digitaldave, it started at 5.3 but steadily went up as voting went on. Wish my Opposites entry would do the same but it's on it's way down.

BTW Heather thanks for your comment.

I received my highest score and best finish. :)

Even better though, was the number of comments (40). That's double my previous high. Better then 10% of the voters commented. Thank you very much, to all that did.

I couldn't be happier. I finally broke into the top 10.

I am curious about 1 thing though. I noticed that I tied the 6th place photo. I agree that it is better then mine, but what is the tie breaker? Or is it just alphabecical order?

Just passed my best # of views.
Oh, and I snuck this into JJBEGUIN's gallery (aka the highest ranked pictures taken with a SONY F828). :)

I believe which ever one was submitted first would get the higher ranking i the even of a tie.
