I'm hesitating to buy the TopazLabs suite for photediting. I noticed that many DPChallengers use it.I'd like some feed back on that.
I can have them for 150$(CDN) on their website. And I can also buy a diffuser/reflector umbrella kit for teh same price (I already have the flash to use on it). But I can borrow the umbrelal kit from my photo club so it's not that critical and I try to limit myself on photography expenses.....
Your advice would be appreciated.

Topaz will let you download their product and try it for 30 days. Do that first. Then you can decide, after using it, if it's worth it to you to buy. If you only want one product (Topaz Adjust) it will be cheaper than $150. So you could maybe get the umbrella kit, too! |

It gives a lot of control and allows you to do many effects. I like it and decided it was worth the $50. I use the clarify adjustment in PaintShop Pro to give my images some pop, and Topaz Adjsut is similar in some ways, but with a lot more control and options. I couldn't justify the suite right now, though. I may try some of their other products at a later time.
As Deb said, you can try it free for 30 days. That the best way to know. |

You can also take a look at the side challenge thread - click here
In many instances, people posted the "before and after" and explained which Topaz setting they used and how. This will give you an idea of what can be done with the software. |

Yes Topaz Adjust was the one that caught my eye (mostly due to the before and after shots here), but I'm very curious about Topaz DeNoise |

This is what convinced me to get the 3 pack deal they had last month. It's an old way underexposed photo that I pushed from almost black shot at ISO 500. It came out soft, but this is an extreme case. You can zoom all the way in on the full size, and there's not a grain to be had.

They are discussing the new DeNoise on Flickr now.

I'm thinking about getting Topaz Clean now. The more I play with it, the more I like it :) |

I installed the trial of clean the other night. Perhaps I have not played with it enough yet, but it seems to produce a distinctive look which screams that this program was used. I'm sure there is some subtle use of it I have not discovered yet. I may give simplify or vivacity a whirl. From the samples and descriptions they show on their site, there appears to be a lot of overlap in what these apps do. |

I was feeling flush and picked up the DeNoise in a package with Adjust, and I'm glad I did. I Much prefer it to Neat Image for the sort of denoising I do...

What's PS? PostScript? Oh! PhotoShop! I don't use it. |
