Any suggestions for a treat for self? |
Deb - you are doing great!!! Keep it up!
You could do a handful of stuff with $17. Maybe no lens, but you could maybe put it towards something else for your camera. Or you could do something for yourself with it - take yourself out to dinner, or even mid-day Sunday drinks! Go buy yourself something - buy yourself a nice frilly pair of underwear - then you can walk around with a smirk on your face because you are the only one that knows that you have lacy poke-a-dot panties on! Or go buy some of the teeth whitener stuff and start a whitening treatment - may help be more encouragement to stay on the up! Or even buy the cat a toy so it will play by itself quietly (if thats possible).
See lots of opportunities - keep it up! I am on day 11 - but I have to go to the in-laws today to do the 'holiday thing' and I am not looking forward to it. I love my in-laws but sometimes they drive me to want to smoke - and they also smoke inside their house, and I don't know how I will do around it. So I may be spending most of the day outside until the whole thing is over. |

Good luck, Amanda - and hang in there! And yes, stay outside as much as possible - enjoy the fresh air! |

I have saved € 40 allready, with one week not smoking. WOW. WOW!
With € 50 I'm gonna treat myself with something nice. Not sure what yet, but I'll figure something out ;-D |

Thanks! My better half has not been feeling well all morning so I don't think we will be going. So I don't have to sit outside all day! But I will need to learn to deal with it at some point. |

My little desktop counter says I have NOT smoked 117 cigarettes to this point. How bad is it that I'm thinkin' "Gosh, it's gonna take me awhile to catch up!" :-)
And yesterday? While wandering around Frankfurt, I'd find smokers and walk behind them....
I did attend a picnic today but it wasn't too terribly hard, since no one else there smokes. Of course, none of them know how hard it is NOT to smoke, either.
Edit to update: five days, 10 hours, 45 minutes. I'm surprised I've made it this far. Still trying to figure out why I should stick with it, though. I'm sure sooner or later I'll notice benefits, but for the time being I'm still a bit stuck on the detractors. House and car don't smell any better - I never smoked in either place. I don't have more energy, and in fact have less since I haven't slept through the night yet (and I've never had that problem before). And while I'm assured that the nicotine has left my person by now, I'm still stuck with a bad case of the dizzies from time to time, which I attribute to a need for nicotine.
But I'm still hanging in there! Think I'll go for a bike ride...

I'm:
- dizzy
- very hungry
- very tired
But:
I stopped smoking on Sun, 28 Jun 2009 13:35:00 GMT.
It has been 1 weeks, 1 days, 6 hours, 10 minutes and 15 seconds since I quit.
I have saved $ 45.58 by choosing not to smoke 189 cigarettes. |

Excellent idea! I think I'm going to schedule time at a spa, too. First up, a massage to release some of the tension in my shoulders and neck. Then maybe a beauty-treatement after that. Very smart! |

This looks like a great idea, I think I'll do the same. Lord knows I could use some beautifying :)
Holding still for weight right now, but I'm not gaining so that's a good thing too.
Hope all is well with everyone else.
All the best .

Yay!!! I did get a 30 minute massage this afternoon - kinda cheating because I haven't "saved" enough money yet, but today is my 8th day of not smoking so I wanted to celebrate that first week. |

Well I have done 150 days of not smoking and have saved $675.00. I just do one day at a time. I can't think ahead anymore then that. I'm trying to work on the weight now. I wish that I had a trainer that would show up at my door every morning and drag my butt out :-) |

Hey Rosemary, that's a lens! :-) I'm already thinking that I just need to make it 20 years and then I can smoke all I want. That's the plan. When I turn 70, baby, it's smoke city! :-) |

Just thought I'd say that Day 9 sucks.
Don't know why, but the dizzies are REALLY bad this morning, as is my mood, and the headache has gone nowhere, though it is a bit more tolerable. Have not had a full night's sleep yet. For all those who say "Oh, you'll feel SO much better!", all I can say is that's a load of cow manure. Just truth in advertising for those considering the whole stop smoking thing - it does NOT make you feel so much better. In fact, I haven't felt this poorly for a very long time.
It may make you feel better at some point, but it ain't within the first two weeks, as far as I can tell. And yet I'm persisting... I think I need my head examined... |

Glad you're being persistent. Apparently, after browsing around the internet, it's different for everybody. Some are saying four days, like me, and some are saying 2 weeks or more, but it WILL happen. Did you smoke over a pack a day? I very rarely make it over a pack, my husband wouldn't let me :P. That may be why it didn't take as long for me. You've come this far... keep it up! And damnit, you WILL feel SO MUCH BETTER! :)
Came back from weekend getaway with hubby only to find I gained back the 5 pounds that took 2 weeks to lose. Sucks.
1 month, 9 days smober... |

AARRRGGHHHH..... now I'm gonna have to go kill something..... I swear it's all a conspiracy! :-)
I really need to work on my "why I'm quitting" reasons. I don't have any, other than I should. I certainly am NOT enjoying this... so why am I doing this again?? Grrr....
Maybe I'll go for a bike ride or something... |

Bike ride was nice. Took the road bike which doesn't get out as much as the hybrid here. So now I'm pleasantly sore from the different riding position. And totally despondent. But I'm trying to work on hopeful. Really! I'm thinking a nice, quick decapitation to cure the headache would help ever so much.... |

Deb, two paracetamol and an ibuprofen, a decaf starbucks cappuccino (not my cup of tea, so to speak, but I know you like the odd one now and then...) and try and imagine yourself a few more weeks down the line. Hold in there! |

07/10/2009 03:13:21 AM · #297 |
Thanks, Sara. I'm curiously immune to paracetamol (for the US folks, that's Tylenol) and ibuprofen when it comes to headaches. Pretty much immune to all pain killers - even the narcotics - when it comes to headaches. Hence my tendency toward decapitation as a cure.
Read someone's blog last night who quit smoking four months prior - said it still totally sucked and some things actually got worse. Joy. I'm just going with the whole despondent thing. That'll do just fine for now. We'll get into seriously depressed next week, perhaps.
Edit to add that I'm not even digging chocolate at the moment. This MUST pass or the whole stop smoking thing is going out the window....

Deb, considering what you are going through, I am immensely proud of you. I don't think I could've lasted much more than my 4 days.
Sucks about the chocolate :( Hang in there! |
