Been using it for about a week now. Similar to HDR, but without the often cartoony results of local contrast enhancement in tone mapping. Doesn't really create an HDR intermediate either, just picks the 'best' exposures for regions across the merged images. Results in a much less processed image and seems to work well. Software is free, too.

link ;)
I've been using Timothy Armes' lightroom plugin to control 'enfuse'. The plugin is not free, though. (donationware)

I've played around with it a bit. I use the command line version in linux and find it extremely quick and simple to use. My first trial:
Original processed by camera:
Raw developed for the sky:
Raw developed for the foreground:
'enfuse' blended result (no further editing):
I've also used it for focus stacking, although my results still suffer from halos. |

I put up a few more samples and thoughts on 'enfuse', on my blog. Really liking the quality of the results and the price. |

Thanks for sharing that, Gordon.
EDIT: Haha, your link cracked me up!
PPS: My options are either to use 'Enfuse' as a command line program or with lightroom? I guess I won't be trying it for now. Anyway, I like your non-cartoony examples.

There are quite a few other GUIs for 'enfuse' around. I just use the lightroom one because I use lightroom. E.g., EnfuseGUI and others mentioned in the earlier links. |
