Thanks for the hint, Dave. I have 4 gig of RAM in this thing, but something is hogging it and sometimes my 'puter is as slow as the proverbial molasses. Like today.
I did a reboot and I could use all the presets again after that. Slowly. So that might be the problem.

Much to do about Nothin!
Took a photo (2005) that was busy and bland, added TA > Clarity and an Overlay.

I've been wanting to post this but the photo was in voting. I was really happy with how Topaz helped me improve the scene. Below are before and after shots, first set is IR and the second set is the same scene, no IR

Oh, now you're cooking with gas! Consider selecting out the neck/head and pasting them on the original body/BG: the particular flavor of Topaz isn't doing you any favors in those areas. Or of course you can just select those areas on the original and apply the transformation to the selection only.

Yeah, I don't think that particular shot lends itself well to Topaz. At least not the spicify version thereof. Was just playing around. I think a more "normal" edit would suit the shot better. I can't be bothered (translation - am unable to) to cut and paste stuff. :-) |

Another B/W conversion using Topaz. Same technique as before but it is a fast method to get something salvageable from an otherwise drab shot.

LOL, Bear! I knew you couldn't resist... :-) I'll try working on it a bit more to get the body less blue and blotchy.... :-) |

Arabian colt running in the pasture. Late afternoon back lit. Applied Topaz buz simplifier filter in layers and lowered opacity about 40%.

For those questions below, I used Topaz here to "POP" the colours, I think its the "Adjust" package, and portrait drama I used. Then noise reduction then some gradient top and bottom.
For those interested, I also used the same photo across in teh layers side challenge, thumb here .....
