Sunrise 2. Warmer colors, got rid of the lens flare. I think 2 is better.

Second... definately.
I don't really care for the lens flare

I don't really like either of them. There isn't much interest or detail. I find it to be a case of wrong timing, really.

Hmmm - do you mean from a comparative or from a technical/artistic standpoint?

Comparative:

Sunrise 1 is the better image than Sunrise 2. Even with the overdone lens flare effect, it has more detail instead of the dark blank space against the rather blank and uninteresting sky.

From a technical standpoint, neither one is particularly "good". While #1 does have detail, the large expanse of blank and featureless sky draws attention to the lens flare and when viewed, the flare projects a green color cast which is not particularly a positive effect. Additionally, the lens flare is really a blown green hot spot which is not particularly attractive. #2 the white of the sun is blown right out of the ball park which created a secondary hot spot slightly to the right of the sun which created the "ray" effect and once again, the green color cast.

From an artistic standpoint, neither is particularly interesting. #1 could be interesting if there was something, anything really, in the sky to give a compare and contrast for the viewer to look at other than the flaws that are highly prominent. This wouldalso be true of #2 if there was something to look at other than blank black space and white blank space. Neither one would be a good choice for any competition or showing.

Sorry - don't mean to offend - just stating my opinion.

Later,

Tom

Better is subjective.....

From my view, the second one is better 'cause the lens flare is too overdone in the first, and the hazy look of the mountains doesn't appeal to me.

I like the strong silhouette in the second.

Sunrise 2 IMHO.
