Hello wonderful people! My son wants to join and I've filled out the waiver and sent it in. Can we go ahead and sign him up? Or do we have to wait for a reply? (he's been working on the tacks challenge for the last hour, and I hadn't thought through the fact that it might take time for a response. |

I think if you've already sent in the waiver form it should be OK to set up an account.
However, since this challenge is a Member challenge, I'm not sure you can get a paid account set up, since (I'm supposing) he doesn't have a PayPal account in his own name/email -- it might involve paying for it as a "gift" membership.
I suggest you submit an Administrative Ticket directly to Langdon, as SC members have no access to that part of the membership area ... and go ahead and try to set it up -- really, I haven't looked at the sign-up/subscription form to know what options are available. |

Oh! I hope it works that he can get signed up as a member. Totally fun!
I hope the powers that be have it set up that anyone can pay for a new member. |

Someone who waves?...
Her son is under 13, so he needs a parent signed waver to become a registered member of the site.

It is a legal document by means of which a parent agrees to waive the right to hold the site responsible for anything which might happen with their kid's use of the site, and instead to themselves be responsible.
Basically, it says you realize what kind of site DPC is, and that you won't sue Langdon if your kid sees something you don't want or gets a less-than flattering comment/PM. It's rather like taking your ten year old to a PG-13 movie ... i.e. caveat emptor :-)
Link to thread with DPC waiver for minors text is here -- it also contains links to several other threads which discuss the participation of kids here ... |
