Had a short trip to Afghanistan for work. Unfortunately, I don't get to see the "real" Afghanistan, just those parts within the wires of US and NATO camps. Here are a few from Bagram Air Base; some from Kandahar to follow when I get them edited. Nothing earth-shattering, but a glimpse into where some of the troops from 'round the world spend their time. Additional info included in the photog's notes on some of the pictures.
As a very special treat, it so happened that Fetor (Cory Smith) was in Kandahar when I was there. We got together a couple of times - once to shoot, even!

A couple shots from Kandahar. Kandahar is a NATO camp, with lots of different countries represented. In addition to a large contingent of US forces (and each service tended to wander in clumps), there were representatives from Canada, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Australia, Jordan (and in fact there was a whole slew of new Jordanians who came in the night we were trying to leave, and a bunch heading home on the plane that dropped off the newbies), France, the Afghan National Army, and some I can't remember at the moment, and some I never did make a positive ID on (including the cute guy I saw at dinner twice...).

A few more. The first two show the activities available within the boardwalk area (in addition to Tim Horton's, which always has a line).

I should be off taking my free study in about an hour. Fighting the war 1 photo at a time.
