I'm confused too...what is it you're trying to do?
"Studio flashes" generally means big units, like AlienBees. Canon only makes the smaller hotshoe (Speedlite) flashes, which are more than capable of being used in a studio - I'm just trying to figure out which ones you mean.
If you go with the Canon Speedlites, you can buy the Canon IR Transmitter, which mounts to the camera hotshoe and remotely controls a number of Speedlight EX580s and/or EX430s. Alternately, I believe that the EX580 has the ability to "command" other 580s and 430s, so you could use one mounted on your camera instead of the special transmitter unit.
If you're looking for true, big studio strobes, you will need some sort of wireless triggers (IR, visual, radio, etc.) That's a whole other story.
