Holy Crap!!! Do I have allot to learn about photography...LOL...

I'll give ya the long version I consider to be short. I started with a Kodak p850 about two years ago, then bumped up to a Sony a200 because at the time, the Sony was the cheapest @540.00$ as opposed to the Nikon D60, which had just been released at 759.99. Now, most people would have said wait about 6 months for the D60 to come down, but for me, that wasn't an option as I was taking a once in a lifetime trip to California (San Fran, and Napa) via private lear jet, and I wanted the camera in time for that. I'm not mentioning canon cause its not my gig (trying not to start the war). Well, anyway, my hobby has become a borderline obsession and seeing as how I got my bonus this month, the wifey okayed my upgrade to the D200. I had the a200 down pat, and get this, I actually had to read the instruction manual on the D200. The good news is I have plenty of room to grow with the D200, and my two photo friends shoot Nikon and are going to hook me up with more gear. Anyway, am I the only one whose ever felt a tad overwhelmed with the camera at first???

I'm sure you are not alone. Think of it as buying a camera that you can grow into and that will last you a long, long time. Congratulations and enjoy!

Oh yeah, keep reading the manual. :-)

Might help to get one of these Training DVD's off ebay. Well worth it.

Heck no. Just put the sucker in aperture priority, or just plain manual and go from there. Lots of the bells and whistles aren't really needed. I love my D200 and I suspect you're gonna love yours. It will work with many of the old legacy lens that you can get on eBay and other used shops. Have fun!
