Yeah, maybe I'm just finding it hard to be objective. When you see your daughter like this it kind of hurts to hear the boy in the casket being mocked as needing a break to practice yoga and play on the beach. I'm sure he'd love to have the chance again to do those things.

I do know it's simply the rantings of a few imbeciles trying to up their ratings and I apologise to anyone who may have felt I was aiming at them. It just really made me angry, probably out of proportion.

What's out of proportion about being livid for having feelings for someone lost in the futility of war?

Nothing.

You'd think after all these thousands of years, and millions of lives, humans would learn that killing each other doesn't solve anything.

I did actually look it up, but I don't watch TV, and considering the popularity of that show, I am kind of proud of the fact that I didn't know the name.

I much prefer to read.....and hang out in this stupid place!......8>)

I've never watched the show in my life, actually; all the knowledge I have of it I got from (gasp!) my voracious reading habits...

I've never watched 24 myself, and I actually watch TV. Although pretty much only Hockey and Comedy Network.

Well, if you count stumbling across it once 2 years ago and watching the last 15 minutes of a single episode, I lied... But I sure as heck have READ a lot about it over its lifespan. I practically never watch series shows. I was a Seinfeld junkie back in the day, and for a few seasons a Sopranos junkie. I used to watch "6 Feet Under", and "Oz". "Sex in the City". That's about it in the last 10 years. And note those were ALL cable series, not broadcast... Except Seinfeld, of course.

Leaves me speechless.

I thought this was funny, but my amusement from where I sit north of the border was at how dumb these guys were acting, and trying to pass themselves off as the typical American viewpoint. But then I saw BeeCee's photo and realized how this could be hurtful.

Interestingly, I read an article in the paper not too long ago about a Canadian jet being scrambled to intercept a Russian bomber nearing Canadian airspace. Apparently the Russians are doing this more and more. It makes me think they are testing for weaknesses and looking for an easy route to bomb the USA in retaliation for causing this recession.

ETA. A news story from today: Canada to respond tit for tat to Russian jet fighters

am I the only one that clicks on the link and sees a soccer video in another language? LOL. I have no idea what the original video was supposed to be but undoubtedly it would probably make me upset.

The original was a number of talking head idiots. You made out pretty good I'd say......
