P.S. Admittedly, you said it nicer than I just did.
:-))

Oh, PLEASE!!!

For one thing, it wasn't directed at you; it was a shot at someone I kinow well enough to know it wouldn't get taken the wrong way, and from my perspective, you appear to have a way of looking things to try and get the worst out of it.

If it wasn't inappropriate or offensive from Steve's perspective, then it really is none of your concern.

Actually, if you knew me at all, you'd know how funny that type of remark is BECAUSE of my general attitude towards women.

Sheesh!

And you REALLY wonder why people get pissed off here?

Maybe it's because they decide they're going to bust someone's chops about things they don't have any part in.

take a deep breath, NikonJeb . Calm down.

Sure didn't' mean to rattle your cage. I'm tiptoeing away now.

It's okay.

Look, one of the things that I've hated my whole life is the gender difference because it's stupid.....my mother was one of the finest women that ever walked the planet, and everything that is good and decent about me is because of her.

My Dad......a guy, in the truest sense of the word.

We have NOTHING in common or to relate to.

I dealt with so much crap that I couldn't do anything about with my wife being an electrical engineer in the early 80s in a pinhead, male dominated world.....and she soldiered through it anyway, because she's better than that.

My daughter is growing up in a household that breaks the chain because she knows no boundaries based on archaic standards.

So my hot button gets pressed easily when someone makes REALLY bad assumptions on my femininity......8>)

Perhaps it is time to return to the orginal OP's statements. No harm done, no offence taken and let's get back on topic:))

Well.....maybe this is a good time to explore this little side journey.....why did the worst have to be assumed from what I thought was just a slightly off-color jibe?

I'm kind of assuming it didn't bother you too much, yet somehow I ended up being a woman-hater for my reaction to a REALLY bad joke.

ETA: I sort of thought Robert was kidding, but now I'm not so sure....

Maybe now the goodbye message in my profile will be better understood. Kinda ironic how this particular thread becomes an example of how easily things can go slanted all of a sudden. I myself got misunderstood and attacked just once too often. I just had my fill of it.

I'm going to wade in where I don't belong. (stop groaning, people) None of anything that was said was too horrible. I think that people were realizing that things were getting a little crass (not the right word, but close enough). I took the statement aimed at NikonJeb as a joke/teasing way to recommend that everyone tone it down. I think nerves are just a little on edge and people are reading more into it than there really was.

Since you wanted to explore, I thought I'd comment from the perspective of someone who was just seeing things from the sidelines. Some threads have gotten nasty. I really don't think this one has.

Of COURSE I was kidding, smileys and all.

ETA: It wouldn't have been funny (if it was funny at all) if I hadn't known how un-misogynistic you are, brother Jeb...

I'm still struggling to see how it could have been considered misogynistic in any way to begin with.

I have been around here for a really long time (or so it seems); and, there's no better photography forum I've found online! I am starting to spend time on Open Source Photo; but, I have made great friends here and have learned many great tricks and tips! I love my DPC friends, and I love how much I've learned here over the years. I love how I've been challenged!

Sure, there are people who are a bit harsh, and people who are more negative than not; but, I don't take it in. I specifically am here to meet other photogs and to learn / share tips! I am here to share my photography and see how the world likes or doesn't like (votes) my work in comparison to everyone else.... I learn a lot from the comments!

I'm happy at DPC!

I have been around since early 2004 and there seems to be a big difference today that back in 2004. Maybe that's my perception but I have managed to stay around. I know a few may which had gone by the waste side a long time ago. I still enjoy being here and so far I have not joined any other photography site. I have looked into it on several occasions but even though we rant and rave at each other from time to time I still call this site home.

There's a lot of good people here that is willing to help each other with photography and other issues. I think most of us have a general respect toward each other even though we may disagree from time-to-time. So for now I can handle the ups and downs because here the Good out-weights outweighs the bad.

Am I being "misocaninistic"? I apologize.

I always used the term in informal settings to mean a "slap of reality" or a "dose of common sense". its just a term. People shouldn't read more into it than it is.

Whoa, easy there, you'll get no argument from me. I'll be more than happy to stick up for you as one of the most feminine guys I know... ;p

K10DGuy I believe that what triggered the onslaught was "b*tch slapping", some take that as a sign that the speaker thinks that women need to be physically abused now and then to keep them "in line" so to speak. Or "tuned up" as some of the locals around here might say.

Jeb has made the point that it was not aimed at women, that it was an inside joke towards a friend. I'm more than happy to take him at his word, and he certainly knows now that such terms might be offensive to some, if not others.

With the current world economy and job markets, there is more than enough stress to go around. I suspect that external stresses are invading the virtual world of DPC, and that offenses are being seen, taken and responded to, where none were originally meant.

I believe it is unfortunate when anyone feels a need to leave. But only they can decide what is right for them. I wish those who need to leave, well. We will be here, if and when they come back. If they don't, perhaps both parties are better off.

Yes. I make up words all the time. It's a science, and a good one at that. Now we just need three people to use it in unrelated postings and it'll be official!

LOL... I knew something was going to be said about that. I could not figure out was it "out-weights" or "our-ways". So I guessed :)
And by the [weight] way you are doing a great job with your weight. I'm the one that is having a hard time losing pounds.
