Well, I haven't been shooting much lately, and most of what I've been shooting lately is pure crap.

So, I've been going through some of my older photos and finally editing them. Last night I worked on a shot that I had submitted during the Motivational poster challenge.

Here is the original:


And here is the newly worked shot that I just submitted to DCPrints last night:


Let me know which photograph (not the overall image, as I don't really like the poster format anyway) you like best.

I really like the color of the reworked one. It is beautiful. Plus, the original one was tilted a bit...I think you did a wonderful job fixing it! You do great work...sorry if you've been in a rut lately. This too shall pass. Keep it up!:0)

I agree with Laurie. The reworked image has more impact (although they are both superb).

I think I am going through the same phase as you, I gave the last couple of challenges a miss and submitted to the "Abstract" challenge..but judging from my score, I think I should be having a long break and a rethink.

what did you do to change the color of the sky?

I like that you fixed the tilt, but your edit seems to take a degree of warmth out of the image that I really liked from the first one. It could be your intention to add order to the corona, but I like the gradient of the first shot more.

Great shot either way. Cheers!

I actually like the first one. I think there is too much blue in the reworked one, making it look a bit unnatural. Also, the blues are evident in the shadows which, in the print, will stick out like a sore thumb.

I can't decide which one I like the best. They are both wonderful images.

They are both very nice, but just on overall aesthetics, I prefer the original. The colors have a more subtle variation in the sky which is nice, and there's more land showing to balance it.

I like the colours in the second one much more.
