Anybody located in this hard-to-spell city? I am coming there for my stepdaughter's wedding which is on Saturday, March 21st. I will probably be arriving on Thursday sometime and my wife's plan is to get me out of her way on Friday, which suits me just fine.

I grew up there. I hope you like Mexican food! Once you get a taste of Mexican food in Albuquerque, you will never be the same. Hatch, New Mexico farms some of the best green chile in the world. The Flying Staris a great hang-out-with-your-laptop cafe. The Sandia Peak Tramis quite an experience. The Zoo is good. The City of Albuquerque Museumhas some interesting information about the city's early history. There are Native American ruins galore. The El Pinto Restaurantis endlessly popular with visitors & locals alike. Madrid, New Mexico(pronounced by the locals as MADrid) is an easy drive up Sandia Mountain, another popular tourist distination that is also very photogenic. That's all I can think of right now! Congratulations on the wedding & have tons of fun!

I forgot to say, humidity there is very low. Sun is very bright. Take a water bottle & a chapstick with you wherever you go. Bring a hat AND sunglasses. The display of clouds inthe sky is awesome, especially when then come rolling over Sandia Peak (which turns a beautiful pink in the sunset). The Trinity Site is a day trip if you drive fast & it's open. White Sands has full-moon moonlight walks, if there will be a full moon when you are there. It's all coming back to me.

The Tram is great--take warm clothing along no matter how pleasant it is at the base--you'll be at 10,000 feet at the top, and it is always breezy there. Not sure how they are set for snow up there or not right now. In the non-ski season, a round trip chairlift ride down the slope is fun, too--but can be chilly even in the summer.

A short 45-60 minute drive north puts you in downtown Santa Fe, and the area around the Square is always fun to see (and might not be too crowded on a Friday)

I forgot Old Town! You could spend the whole afternoon there & shoot about 1000 pics.

The tram...... don't ride it if high winds are in the forecast..... or you could gets stuck at the top for a while when they close it for safety. The winds, common in spring, almost alwyas die down after the sun sets. The evening/night view of the city from the top is awesome.

On the west side, there is also Petroglyph Ntl. Monument. Petroglyphs in black lava rock.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I will plan on taking the tram to catch the sunset from the mountain, and will probably visit old town during the day. A former coworker whom I have never met in person also lives there, so I am going to try and meet up with him for lunch on Friday. Way more than I can do in one trip, so I will have to pick and choose.

I guess nobody on this forum actually lives there now, however. A member search did not turn anyone up.

I drove through there last summer, so I'm obviously an expert on the area ;)

My wife Lorene and I live in Albuquerque! When you said your search didn't turn up anyone, I went to check my preferences. Somehow I changed my location to my username? Anyway, I'm actually heading out the door to go to Santa Fe this morning, but I'll check back in here later to see what's going on.

I must have been misspelling it. (Hard to believe, right?) I just searched again and came up with 25 members there.
