I don't rant often but permit me to copy something I dropped into another thread into it's rightful place in the RANTS forum.
I'm not looking for responses. I know what some voters are like so a) I should be used it by now and b) I really shouldn't let it rock my boat but... grrrrrrrrr!
I have a rust shot in the abstract challenge BUT it was NOT an "out take" from shots I took for Rusted. I did take it on the same outing as my Rusted Entry but I took it with the Abstract challenge in mind.
Where two challenges allow me to use related material I do so deliberately and I am fed up of comments suggesting that my Abstract entry is an "out take" from my Rusted efforts. It's not a reject from Rusted, it's an image intended from the start to be an Abstract entry.
If we didn't have Rusted as the other challenge this week there wouldn't even be any questions being asked about abstract images featuring rust! I notice a lot of abstracts featuring macros. If, instead of Rusted, the Open challenge this week was Macros, would macro entries in Abstract be considered inferior entries because the photographer could have entered shots from the same shoot into the Macros challenge? How ridiculous!
Judge the entries on their merit (or lack of, in my case) for ****'s!
Every week there are comments on entries and posts in forums by people who seem to be full of glee that they have found something else to be negative about, another excuse to mark others down.
Happening to meet the description of both current challenges with an entry into either strikes me as the most stupid excuse I've seen here yet.
Don't mind me, I'm just in a grotty mood and mindless comments about the fact that my abstract contains rust, therefore it could/ should have been entered into the Rusted challenge etc are getting on my tits big time.
[/rant]
:o)

All this is so sadly funny. I know what 98% of the pictures are but should I give a 1 because of that? That would be 200 ones. But according to some posts in the threads, that would be the right thing to do. Make that 201, because I know what rust is!
Thanks for giving me another reason to lower the scores Kavey. =>)(sarcasm, sarcasm, sarcasm) Don't get your panties in a knot anyone. |

You are being judged by people who want a better score than you. Of course they are going to try and find fault with your image. Then again, there are some people who do it for fun too. |

Indeed - I counted over half-a-dozen shots that happen to have rust visible on them; I'd hate to think that people were getting voted down just for that. It would be as unfair as voting down anything that happened to have something in proportion (or out of proportion)! |
