Ahhhh, it's too early to fear or tell. Who knows, if you do inside. But you never know what others may think otherwise. Good luck. |

If that were the case I would have quit a long time ago and not gotten to the point I am at now.

It's been said before, if you like your photo, that's the most important thing.
If I like my own, and I must for me to consider submitting it, I consider two things:
1) If it does well, then this is a cross over into the "pop" photo charts. In other words, it has broad appeal
2) If it doesn't do well, it's still a good photo, but it doesn't have broad appeal, or at least for this audience.
#1 feels best, #2 is useful information too. There's no other site I've been to where you can get so many opinions (the score being the opinion here, even if you don't get constructive comments) on your work in such a short time (or even a long time).

yeah I thought too, but you know, you won't get any better if you don't try anymore. Just remember, this is all fun and games until someone get's dust on their lens... :)) Have fun and enjoy and not to worry about the score. I can't certainly base all my photo skills on one contest and say, no more. I just know that we all can't please everyone and not all the time. keep your head up.:) Oh, for the one I scored low in the past, i have followed up with a simular shot and used the comments and ideas how to become better with those poor shots. I have only became better or understand more through such low scores. Yet, I have a lot to learn as well.

Im well in the running for a brown ribbon with this score so far.. I must be either too abstract, or not abstract enough!

Isn't it odd that more than one person has the same score with the same amount of votes at the same time??? Hmm...

quitting submitting at dpc is not that big of a deal, i still enjoy the craft, just not the hypercompetitiveness i guess

Mine was at 8.0 with two votes and I'm watching it go down... lol... it's more fun when you start out low and get to watch it climb than the reverse. It's down in the range I expected now, just hoping it won't drop too much more when the scoring evens out :)
I wasn't really expecting much from this, since I've never done an abstract shot before... but it was fun for a change :) |

I don't check my score until after the first hourly automatic update ... usually by then there's at least 15 votes, and I can have a pretty good idea what the number to the left of the decimal point will end up ... |

You have a lot more will power. For me its wait of rit...wait for it...clickclickclickclickclickclickclickclick...votevotevotevotevotevotevote...clickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclick. Repaet as many times as neccessary until either a) tire or b)satisfied to the point you can sleep.
