Hi all

I am looking for a good print magazine on photoshop for photography, and/or photographic composition. Do you have any recommendations?

Thanks

30 views and no responses from the good DPC folks??? Maybe I can be of help.

If it is magazines that you want then try some of the U.K. magazines like "Digital Camera".

I don't know why you would choose to go the magazine route because there are a lot of great books that cover each of the topics that you specified. But there aren't many publications that I can think of that cover both. Manyh of the British magazines always have compositional tips and tons of Photoshop tutorials. They almost always come with a CD to help coach you through the tutorials with plenty of examples and photos to work on with the instructions.

Although pricey, they will probably be what you are looking for. However....

I think that you would be a lot better off with books that specifically address each of these areas.

Photoshop: Anything by Scott Kelby is usually considered gold. He has many books on the subject from entry level to extremely comprehensive.

Composition: Where do I start??? Such a basic part of photography is covered in most any book discussing photography. Check out this thread for lot's of choices on books on everything photography related.

I second "Digital Camera" I get it frequently.

I also purchase Photoshop User and Photoshop Creative most of the time. They cover more than just photo editing techniques, but I usually find the very large majority of the articles to be relevant in some way.

Photoshop User
While not 100% dedicated to photography... it's darned close.
Easily my favorite rag.

I used to buy the UK line-up (all published by the same crew, and IMO just extensions of eachother) of Digital Camera, Digital Photographer, and Photography Monthly.
I'll save you the trouble: "Shoot in RAW. Use a good tripod. Buy a cable-release."
That's about all they seem to say anymore, so I quit giving them my money.

Thanks everyone...

I like Scott Kelby's stuff, and already have a couple books from him. That is actually why I wanted to get a magazine subscription, because I like the thought of each month, getting a couple new tips and techniques to try out.

I will try Digital Camera, and Photoshop User.. who knows, I may just sub. to both of them :D
