Wow, great images! This challenge made me discover that I like portraits, which I didn't know!
I wish I had my files (packed in the boxes to be moved to a new apartment), I would have liked so much to participate in this challenge...
Anyway, I'll do my part voting and commenting.
Good luck everyone! |

I saw two that I knew would be dq'd.
eta: There are two more that I think will be dq'd as well, but I'm not quite sure, they may be legal.

Nicely done. I'm only at 32% with 137 comments. Hehe I increased my comments by more than 10% today.
I noticed something interesting though.
Before I started voting, my image was getting hammered with low votes, and I was getting grumpy. I had to keep telling myself that 'the scores don't matter'.
Well I decided that my attitude needed a little tweak, so I decided to do something about it. I decided to sit down and vote. Not only would I vote, but I would specifically take into consideration that the pictures would be coming from people's hearts, and from cameras that were made with certain technical limitations that we might not be faced with today.
I told myself that I would vote generously (but still thoughtfully) and specifically without bias. I would not vote on images compared to other images in the challenge, but evaluate every single image on its own merit and weight things toward content and emotional impact over technique. I would not be disappointed with the score on my own picture (after all, I've had that picture around since my first day shooting with my DSLR), but focus on celebrating what other people have put forth as their 'hidden gem'. I would not apply my votes on other images affected in any way by the votes I was receiving.
And a funny thing happened.
I stopped feeling grumpy about my 5.5 that had become a 5.3 that had become a 5.2 that had become a 5.1.
I felt comfortable with ignoring my own score, regardless if it started plummeting into the 4's to become my personal worst.
And now I can go to bed without worry and a general sense of happiness and excitement. |

My guess is that at least one of those names will be lucky to reach the top 200. It's a very educated guess, based on the knucklehead entering a personal favorite rather than a obvious high-scoring image. |

Good to know I've got company in entering a personal fav rather than a crowd-pleaser! It's not always about the scores... :-) |

Shannon, I don't think calling DrAchoo a knucklehead is very professional from a member of the SC.

When you enter, it's about what you like. When the challenge is over, it's about what you learned and remember. For the week or so in between, it's about the scores... and either celebrating or nursing an open wound. ;-) |

That's Dr. Knucklehead to you!
Nope. I'm not winning. Top 50, maybe.
And I did enter a personal favorite. I just happened to be blessed with having my personal favorites parallel what DPC likes. ;) |

My personal favorites are ground up and sold as troll feed. The 2 was a nice touch. |

My personal favourite is currently earning me a 5.0000 score - I should have entered that Lighthouse outtake |
