Hi All,

I am hoping you might be able to give me some advice! I am considering creating a podcast each month for the brain tumour website I have created. The hope would be to interview a different person related to the brain tumour 'world' each month. The people taking part would be anything from a brain tumour patient or relative to a Neurologist or neuro-oncologist...I know I could fill at least 6 months already.

Now here's where I need help, I have never created a podcast in my life...I dont think I have ever listened to one either lol The website this would be run through is www.btbuddies.org.uk which is the website that I have launched this past weekend. It is 'powered' by joomla so I dont know if that would influence what I could do as far as podcasts is concerned?

As I already mentioned, this is just an idea and based on the advice I get from you guys I'll then see if this is going to be too complicated for me to do on my own lol

If any of you could give me your views on how easy this would be for me to do and just an idea of the what the process of creating a podcast is, I would be extremely gratefil.

Cheers

Natalya

How to create a podcast with Joomla.

Use Skype to create the media file. You'll likely need a third-party app to record the Skype conversation, but Skype can walk you through all that once you are set up there.

Good luck!

Audio or Video? I'm partial to audio, as I can listen while driving to work. I'll assume audio.

Make sure to do it as an MP3 file. That will play on anything. If you only do an AAC, then you are limiting yourself only to IPOD owners.

Listen to a few other podcasts and get an idea of what works. There are quite a few I have listened to for a few weeks and then lost interest because, in spite of excellent material, the speaker droned and was not engaging.

Here is my own preferred podcast directory. podcastalley Podcasts are listed in order of popularity, voted on by visitors to the site every month.

Laurie and Steve, thank you both!

Reading my post back now I realise it probably doesn't sound like the most 'upbeat' of subjects to want to create podcasts about, but, I'm pretty sure if they are done right people will hopefully want to listen to them...I suppose the only real way to tell that would be to try it out!
