Shot on Kodak 35mm B&W film, in my Mamiya 645 Super. Figured I had the back, I should try it out.

Pentax Super ME, Pentax 28mm, Ilford FP4, Caffenol

Recently my camera's advance lever has been playing up but only towards the end of a roll of film.
It doesn't wind on smoothly and seems to stick causing the last frames to overlap.
Any idea's what this problem may be?
The only thing I can think of that may of caused this (well I'm sure it has) was last week I used cellotape to hold a square filter over the lens. Some of the tape went over the winder and when I advanced the film the winder was being held back by the tape causing it to pull against the lever..
Ever since it hasn't wound on properly towards the end of a roll.

Just from my local super market Tesco - £1

This is from a different time and different place, back in 2003, Kuwait in the months before the invasion of Iraq. We were all listening to the explosions as the Patriot missile batteries took down the missiles headed our way, after a while it get's old so the fellas started to nod off. I took this with one of those good old disposable plastic wind and snap cameras.

Cheers,

Nick

This was one of my all time fav film shots, I scanned it a few years ago, and it saved very small.. Hope you can see the look in the mare's eye. I had an 8x10 that I entered in a contest and called it "Pure Love"

What is a "Chrome" ?

Somebody mentioned them in film/digital analogy stating that a RAW file would be the equivalent to a Negative whilst a JPEG would be a "Chrome" because of speed and convenience.

Really? I've searched here...nothing. Pure baking soda but that's sodium bicarbonate, not sodium carbonate.

ETA: reminds me that we can boil down baking soda...

Chrome is slide film. The RAW/JPEG analogy doesn't really stand up, but I can see where they were coming from.
A film negative has a much broader tonal range than does the slide film, and adjustments in processing, scanning and printing can provide a lot more control over the eventual outcome of the image (like shooting RAW), while shooting slide gives you an essentially finished product with much less backside control (like shooting JPEG).

I stopped shooting slides completely when I first really got into digital since usually the "slide look" (smooth, saturated and low grain) was easier to get with a digital camera, plus getting negative film processed was easier and cheaper. I've started shooting slide film again, but just for cross-processing where fine-image quality is less of a concern than getting a certain look or effect.
