Yeah, all the other pages I glanced at had it wrong too ... though I know he'd appeared recently on our local PBS affiliate, where I now found this preview of his recent New Year's show, where they got it right ...

My dads next door neighbour is called Steve Stevens (Think its popular in wales to have names like that)

Old boss was called Dave Dunnet (done it) & he usually got blamed for everything! Him and his wife spent a week after thier daughter was born going through names so they avoided all stupid names and any initial combination that was an acronym for something - V.D etc

A woman I know went to a psychiatrist named Dr. Luniansky (pronounced looney-ansky).

In Latin America this happens a lot, specially with foreign words, so we have people named "Walt Disney Rodriguez", "USNAVY Alvarez", "Kennedy Perez", "Einstein Solano", "Rocky Bravo", "Madonna Gomez", "Macgyver Acuña" and so on....

I worked with an engineer from Harza named Donald Duck. Just checked and he is still around "based on public listing of donations for the last election". He was named before the "real" Donald came to be. He even made a visit to the Carson show years ago.

Jack Hoffman is fun when you say it fast five times. And my girlfriend made good laughs out of Ms. Foster.

Edited because it struck me that Ms. Foster might not be so funny, but in Norwegian the very same pronunciation (that word I must've spelled wrong...) is a vulgar term for "Freak". So that is a little funny... But I still favor Jack Hoffman, no matter what she sais =)

One teen mother wanted to name her daughter Chlamydia because she thought it sounded pretty.

A name I ran into at work today got me wondering of its origin. She is American Indian from South Dakota and since a lot of Indian names are given for a specific reason, such as Sitting Bull, Kicking Bear, or Rain in the face I have to wonder how this person ended up with the last name of Slidesoff? In one place I saw it written as Slides Off and in another Slidesoff. So I'm not sure which is correct, but man does it make the childish male mind wonder lol.

The Hogg family is very famous in Texas. Old oil family. The most famous one was one of the Hogg boys' daughters, Ima Hogg.

There was a story that she had a sister named Ura Hogg, but I think that was urban legend.

I knew a guy that had a bicycle currier service, his name was Justin Tyme.

I know a guy that used to work with some city programs/hospitals in the Greenville SC area. One young lady had just given birth to a little girl, and they were getting her name for the birth certificate. They asked her what she wanted to name her baby, and she said, "Va Geena." Thinking it might just be a "dialect" misunderstanding, and she meant Virginia, they asked her to spell it.

Mary Huge, a choir director and secretary to the conductor of the Cleveland Orchestra, wanted very much to keep her maiden name for professional reasons. . . until she married school psychologist, Charles Dickie.
Just imagine the wedding announcement!

Occasionally a good friend from residency will text me odd names. The last took the all-time prize:

There's an accountancy firm in Auckland, New Zealand called Cox, Arcus & Co.
