Yeh! So happy about advanced editing!

Create a photo of something that is a puzzle or is puzzling in nature.

Well I have my idea in plenty of time for a change, I just hope I can make it happen. Hope I haven't been too ambitious!!

Fingers crossed!

The images are fantastic but not very 'puzzle' IMO

I dont think it has to be something that looks like a puzzle or is so literal like with abstracts. It could be something that just puzzles the voter to. Something that just isnt right or out of place? Just my opinion.

I think you're right, (I hope you're right) otherwise we will have 150 rubik's cube entries and that will be VERY boring for the voters! ;-)

I too was wondering whether this was going to be something that people are puzzled as to what it is (as with the puzzle macro challenge), or whether it would be something someone would find the nature of puzzling. Which one is everyone going for?

I would prefer to shot something that looked interesting or on the puzzling side rather than a strict puzzle, so I'll probably do that although its risky.

Did everybody notice this is Advanced editing too even though it doesn't have a flag on the front page?

I took the title to mean "puzzling in nature" as in mother nature. Like if you took a picture of a 2 headed calf. DO you think that's stretching it a little. Another thing I noticed is that you can go up to 720 pixels under the advanced editing rules but I did mine to 640. Are people ussually strict when voting about these things. This will be my 2nd challenge and first in advanced editing so I am still learning. I'd hate to have to change my image tonight because I really liked the way it came out.

It does have a flag on the front page. The open challenges are grouped now, so the flag applies to both.

You are correct about "puzzling in nature". This fits the theme, and hopefully voters will appreciate this.

As for size of your entry, you shouldn't have any problems with the 640 size, but the 720 size usually shows a lot more detail.

i've done that too! i don't think voters vote down an image too much for that, but i have gotten a comment or two saying, "i wish you had used all the 720 pixels." I think it makes a difference in the little details.

Well maybe I'll rework the original and see what happens tonight. I have quickly found out that if I am happy with a photo to stop messing with it. With the gas station challenge I was looking at 3-4 different variations and it was driving me crazy which one to pick. I had to bring in several 3rd party members of family and friends and they all picked the same one which was not the one I liked best but I went with it anyway. My eyes were going batty looking at the images so much that I started second guesssing myself too much.

I would imagine there will be a small number of people that don't think your entry fits the challenge because of this interpretation, but you can't please those guys no matter what you do so don't sweat it.

On the size issue, some people are very strict about it (well, just me as far as I can tell). If you enter an advanced challenge with the longest side at 640px you won't get anything higher than a 3 from me. You're just shooting yourself in the foot by not using all of those extra pixels, and it's a big step backward in the quest for even larger submission sizes being allowed. But hey, don't sweat that either (much to my chagrin). The current blue ribbon in Post-It Note is only 640 too.
