This might seem like a stupid question BUT...I have CS3. Today, I come home and open up CS3 and it pops up with a box saying "Your calibration profile is defective" and a choice to use the profile or ignore it. Never seen this before. THEN, I see that things are different...and it says I have CS3 extended. NOW...was this some kind of free update? I certainly didn't download any update...and I would have expected something to pop-up saying "Install new FREE update." I am the only with access to MY computer at home. Any ideas?

I have had the "Your calibration profile is defective" and a choice to use the profile or ignore it" pop up before. I can't remember which setting (use profile or ignore it) caused the white balance to be off on all my photographs. I had to calibrate my monitor and save it as a different file name, then everything worked ok.

As far as the extended I didn't see that come up. When I first purchased CS3 I thought I had extended because I kept seeing it pop-up but since I have found out that I have CS3 NON-Extended.

Extended is certainly not a free update... it is about $1000 as opposed to $600-ish. Adds features for image analysis and a few other things, mostly useful to those in the business world.
If your installation thinks it is "Extended" and you have the additional features enabled, it could mean that things are somehow getting corrupted. Same with a defective profile. I'd watch that system carefully and make sure things are backed up.

That's not comforting. Are Extended features available in CS3 as an upgrade? Or is it something you have to download or purchase at the store as a completely different installation? I'm going to re-install my version of CS3 and see what happens.

Is your PS3 an academic version? Because it only comes in the extended version.
