there are 5 different photos taken for this shot.all were resized and positioned to their appropriate places on the main picture which was the picture of the hand i am sitting on. me sitting on the index finger and on the flip-off finger was originally sitting on a bar stool. all images were layered on top of one another appropriately and top 4 layers were added layer masks. i carefully painted in the layer mask to reveal or conceal the parts of all 4 images to create this effect. at some parts of layer mask i used gausian blur to smooth outt he areas, and sometimes i used maual blur tool.. burn tool was used to add artificial shadows and clone tool to remove blemishes.. hope you guys enjoy..

5 different images layered in photoshop, each one of them resized and palced carefully. top 4 layers representing nose, eyes and mouth were added layer mask and appropriately masked..masks were blured and fine tuned to create smooth transition.. hope you guys enjoy..

4 different images were layered and resized and positioned to where they are suppose to be at first. and top 3 layers were added layer mask. after couple hours of carefull fine tuning the layer mask the smooth transitions were achieved. cloning and healing and patching tools were used to remove and blemishes and burn tool was used to create some artificial shadows. this was a very fun project, hope you guys enjoy it as much as i did creating it..

i could have used different techniques to create these same effects such as extracting things from different images and layering them that way, but i dont necesarily like extract tool that comes with photoshop, when i need to extract something i use a much better and more powerfull tool used "knockout"... it is a plugin for photoshop.. anyways i did not use extract with above photos. i just layered them and masked them.. a layer mask is a very usefull tool and it has infinte applications and everyone who uses photoshop should know how to use layers and masks appropriately in my opinion...

this is how layer masks work: in the layers dialog in the lower right hand corner at the bottom there is a rectangular shape with a white circle in it.. that is the layer mask tool and how you add a layer maks to a particular layer.. say i have 2 layers of pictures on top of one another. and i add a layer mask to the picture which is on the top. after that a white rectangle will appear to the righ of the layer it was represented in.. if you click in this white rectangle now you are in the masking mode and you can color as you like and black areas will conceal the image and white areas will reveal...or in other words balck areas of the mask you have painted will show the underlying image and white areas will show the overlying image.. you can use all the tools and filters in the layer mask as you would with any image.. just make sure later mask rectangle is selected when you are manipulating it...

i have more images created this way in my portfolio for anyone who is interested in seeing...
thanks all for tuning in.. enjoy
