kashi, here's my stab at it. I can try and do a neater version from the raw file if you drop me an email with it?

I think this is well-done. Perhaps some extra blurring of the BG would make the subjects seem even sharper by comparison -- I don't think it would be too hard to make a mask for this.

I think you should make a mask and blur the wrinkles so you have a smoother gradient BG. Why not title it just
... a bright future
I think the "still" adds an unnecessary negative connotation, unless you really want to emphasize the tribulations ahead. I guess the pose an expression don't look to me like what I'd put on a "Don't let this happen to you!" warning poster -- she looks like she's happily pregnant and posing for some maternity portraits.

I can't think of a better title right now, but if I do (I'm usually pretty good with titles) I'll certainly post it.

Oh, that's not a bad idea actually :) Just as well I hadn't closed the photoshop file with all the layers yet...

Kashi, your little one has got a mean kick - I can quite see that is a photo you want to keep - and Jelena's edit works for me.

Wander zigomar's portfolio and leave some comments. Check out the layers side challenge. Check out the Topaz side challenge. Download Topaz and play with it for a bit.

Or start a thread dealing with politics or religion. :-)

Why zigomar of all people? lol

Also, I have a confession to make. I hate Topaz, and most of the processing it results in.

Just tryin' to help out. And don't look at any of my recently posted photos. They're all Topaz'd to some degree.

OMG I just got the best ever feedback...I joined the Critique Club about a month ago and got assigned some of AmeedEl-Ghoul's pics. I had already been doing my best to give him comments and encouragement ever since he joined the site.

Understandably, I was thrilled to see he ribboned in Furniture, and left him a comment telling him how proud I was as I had seen him improve by leaps and bounds. So I don't think he'll mind if I post this pm I found in my inbox this morning:

Susan, If it wasn't up to the continues critique I receive from you, I don't think I would've been able to make it to the front page.
You told me before and let me quote your words '' A really strong entry, sadly the dramatic use of lighting didn't resonate with most DPCiers. However, you can either shoot to please the DPC crowd, or you can (and imho) should shoot to please yourself. '',

I followed it to the letter, I was shooting to please myself, and paid extra attention to the lighting, YOU got me a ribbon, and I thank you for that :)
P.S, I owe you a coffee if we got to meet one day :)
Cheers,
Ameed,

No, it's all good. I know you mean well. (I was just wondering why you would pick out one name out of everyone on DPC though heh.)

Photography and me, well, we kind of have this hate-hate relationship going on right now. I'm kind of drifting away from it more and more, but I love this place and the people and love having fun here and getting involved where I can on a non-photographic level as much as possible. Which is why I like the fun types of threads, which I'm finding less and less of. The photography related threads are boring me, and commenting outside of the free studies really doesn't do anything for me at all.

C'est la vie I guess :)

Very cool, Susan!! :-)

Hey Susan that is so cool, it makes it all worth it when stuff like that happens. On another note wanted to come to you all and let you know that today May the 19th is 100 days of not smoking cigarettes. Never thought I would get this far, just goes to show you what you can do when you really put your mind to it.

Hey, well done Rosemary! Are you going to go out and treat yourself with some of the money you haven't spent on cigarettes?

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the money I have saved which at this time is around $450.00

Over 100 days of NOT smoking you saved $450.00??! Wow, Rosemary, if that alone isn't incentive to quit smoking I don't know what is! Attagirl! So, by the end of a year, you should have enough $$ to treat all of Team Suck to lunch...;-)

Here's some holiday pics, with a spattering of Topaz applied here and there... *sigh* Time to go back to work.
05/19/2009 06:12:59 PM · #1667
Going out to Utah, Colorado, New mexico, Arziona for two week of sight seeing and fun. I'll miss reading the Forums and the bad scores! ;-)

I'll have a double meat BMT on Italian Herb & Cheese with Monterey Cheddar and extra processed cheddar, with lettuce, a few pickles, some caesar dressing, salt and pepper, and a sprinkling of parmesan.

Yum.

Now I'm desperately hungry.
