I like him already.
Pretty nice looking too, for a 15-yr old kid.

Greetings from Amsterdam! Did the tulip gardens yesterday and pretty sure there were more cameras per person there than anywhere I've been. Cell phones, P&S's, and a ton of dSLRs everywhere! The subjects were very cooperative and very pretty. :-) |

*waaaaahhhhh*....I'm inconsolable....Max, I'll make sure there's hankies around for you to cry into too...*sniff*
Deb, lovely tulips, sounds like a fun gtg...is there another mega-gtg shot in the offing?
Oh yeah I did something really stoopid yesterday (like that's anything new)...was out on the bike, stopped at a stop sign, unclipped left toe clip and cranked up right foot so I'd be ready to go...still don't know exactly how I managed it but overbalanced to the right, knew I was falling, so just managed to get out of right clip in time. And managed to fall on my LEFT knee and arm, go figure! RICE'd the knee and used a hot-water bottle on it, so feels pretty damn good today.
Oh yeah, then I had to bike home, against strong winds and up hills, but even with a damaged knee still did it in good time...:-) |

a) Give a very clear message to the 40 people whose portraits you will be taking that they have to be at the right place at the right time or no portrait.
b) Same message to whoever it is that has ordered the work.
c) If b) is one of the teachers or whtever you have there, maybe ask them for a little help with the organising of said people.
d) ...don't know, sorry. Ask to look at an example from last year? Otherwise, there may be help on dpc...
e) Find someone the psycho mom is sweet on and ask them to provide a little distraction.
Probably not a lot of use, but I just though I'd have a crack at straight answers :)
Good luck. |

no, straight answers are good:) it would be really awesome if it could be super organized, but i think it will consist of me forcing the school to excuse me for four periods and me running around pulling people out of class to do a 15 minute shoot each. and then doing the rest of the poeple after school. ugh |

WOW...I'm beating YOU in a FS?! What's wrong with the voters?! AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!! ;-)
BTW Jeb, I truly do applaud the way you are allowing Eleanor to live her life and let her have her own experiences with the world. There are so many parents out there who don't/won't let their kids fall off their bike and scrape their knee (so to speak lol). I am glad there are still parents who can and will let their kids do their thing and be there for them in a support role, as opposed to trying to shield them from everything.

I know some parents who won't LITERALLY let their kid fall off their bike and skin their knee. I'm talking 6 year olds that still have training wheels and moms that hold on to them on their bike the whole time.
I have a 2 year old that out-climbs 5 year olds on the playground monkey bars for chripessake. |

EXACTLY!!!!!I know that all parents want only the best for their kid(s), but they overdo it. And guess what, these kids grow up functionally and socially illiterate cause their parents have protected them their whole lives.

and as much as id like to say its their problem, its the parents fault and the kids cant do anything about it. it really sucks for them cause the 'real world' doesnt even exsist. there are HIGH SCHOOL students who are still sheltered, and man are they gonna be SCREWED when they leave the house |

Most kids these days don't know how to fail, so they never learn how to deal with failure, until the real world bites em in the ass. And when it does, they can't cope. Not just my opinion, but real life. Read the news!
And guess what, those kids will NEVER learn the joy of, say, riding helmetless with your feet on the handlebars. I was bombing all over the neighbourhood on my bike from age of 5 on, with my brothers and their friends, and so long as we were home in time for supper, we were left to our own devices.
It was wonderful.

Thanx!
It does help that she's a terrific person with a good head on her shoulders. Though I'd like to take credit for her being the way she is, we've definitely been graced.

Jeb, you give yourself way too little credit. You and your lovely wife, both, are responsible for how well Eleanor's turned out. Big pats on the back to you both! |

WTF is going on here?! That FS score is starting to freak me out!
Just went downstairs to put things away and heard that awful noise a baby rabbit makes when a cat's got it. Looked out the screen and sure enough Druli is strutting across the lawn with his prey. At first I'm sure the rabbit's a goner; cat's teeth are long and sharp. However, Druli lost half his upper right fang last November, so that may have impeded his ability to kill somewhat. Still, I gave the rabbit last rites, as it seemed at first glance that it wouldn't survive.
Druli lets me get close enough that I can hear muffled 'Mreows' and I see that the rabbit has one paw up close to its head, looks like Druli's mouth is around the paw too, so he may not have the deathbite on it. There's no visible blood. I get him to drop the rabbit, which he does, then I shut him inside, put on oven gloves, and go out to the rabbit. It's still alive, though obviously shocky, the first couple of attempted leaps are awkward and clumsy.
But I managed to catch it and carefully carry it over to the area where I suspect he caught it, set it down gently and let it go. It hopped off in a more coordinated fashion, so I hope it survives.
It may not last the night, with foxes and owls and other cats around, but at least I gave it a chance.
