Hi Wendy, You need to wear blue shirt to clisk UPDATE button as often as you want. But be aware, it's an addiction.

LOL, I am a pretty open minded individual and my scoring quite often reflects that. I dont need to be spoon-fed the concept behind an entry just because it doesn't blatantly scream (in this case) Silence. Everyone votes images differently, personally I look at the image as a whole, the idea, the execution of that idea, the technicals and yes, the wow & eyecandy factor, I have shoehorned enough images in my time to recognise when an image is shoehorned. At the end of the day, if I didnt know the challenge topic, and there was no `clever` name to shoehorn the image into the challenge, then would I still `get it`.. If no then I will mark it on the technicals to a certain point, but a well thought out image that isnt as pretty as a shoehorned image will always get a higher score from me. On the other hand, I will actively mark down images that, in my opinion, do not meet the challenge (DNMC).

flame away, I can take it.. gonna comment on some more shoehorns now :)

I assume we are reffering single tree entries here. I will not consider thoes as shoehorn as far as it conveys silence to me. Do I have a single tree entry?, may be ;o)

I can see a single tree showing silence, if it is still and serene (can a tree be serene?). It's not just the tree, it's the entire scene that is quiet. I don't believe that this is a shoehorn, because I can picture the scene with sound, with wind, with rain.

Same with a field of poppies--if they are completely still, then I would consider that silence. the field blowing? No.

What I find more of a shoehorn are the closeups. I would not consider a closeup of a single poppy as silent.

Ok, this is only my 2nd day on this site. Am I being too specific about individual photos?

No vawendy, the whole point of this site is you do what you want and vote how you want. Otherwise we'd end up with a 'genetically-pure' master photo as everybody drifted towards the photos that produce the highest scores.

Like you, I'm just a lowly Registered Member so I can't hit update all day, every day. I understand it get VERY addictive. Here's a challenge though: try not to update your score for 24 hours, go on, I dare you.

I have interesting love/hate pattern going on with my image. I get "1" followed by "9". It will be interesting to see the voting distribution chart.

I'm staying right in the middle of the pack. mostly 5's, one 3, one 7, some 6's. I haven't moved much at all. started at 5.02, high of 5.32.

Slowly creeping up. It was sitting at 4.6 after first 50 votes. I wish it rise to 5.5, because I seriously think it deserves.

Drat! I did the one month membership for the update button and so I could put pictures in my portfolio. *sniff* there are no votes to update, and *double sniff* the portfolio part has been taken down for awhile! Life is cruel when you're impatient.

This is my first challenge in a long time that I haven't had a sub 5 moment on my avg vote. Hoping for a new personal best... we'll see. Maybe this week's strategy of spend less time setting up the shot and more time editing is making a difference... HAHA.
