I'm getting an average of 3, but I deserve it. I really regret posting this picture :( I had a lot of trouble with this topic so I posted it at the last minute. Not gonna do that again. |

Do you think we could stop the voting now? I've never had a 6 before...

I expected mine to either bomb or do really well, but not lay somewhere in the middle:

There's one particular image that doesn't show up in the thumbs or open in full view. Anyone else getting this?

Yeah, I saw that as well, one of the images seems to be missing.
For those of you who are disappointed with your votes, relax, we don̢۪t get prizes, we don̢۪t get published, what you do get is feedback, yes I know that not everyone adds comments when voting, and yes there are people that have no logical guide lines for votes, but I believe we are all here not because we want to be recognized, but because we want to learn how to make better photos. Most of us are not professionals, we don̢۪t have to be perfectionist either.. you don̢۪t loose anything by posting works that may not be good. You have to treat this system almost like a real school, you don̢۪t not give you essay or test just because you don̢۪t feel they are good enough, you give what you did, then hopefully someone will make a comment that in the future will help you make better photos. (don̢۪t forget the Critique Club, yeah they have been a little lazy sometimes, but they are there to help you. Anyhoo.. back to taking pictures.

After 45 votes - 5.86
This is crazy, I thought mine would get no more than a high 4, now it is almost a 6, lets see if it can do it, I've been trying to break the 6 barrier and now I might have two challenges in a row "Where you live" 109 Votes - 6.5 and now Proportions

Not technically perfect, but I would love to be able to dust this one off for proportions...

Speaking of the Critique club, are they still doing that? This will be my fourth challenge, and I still haven't gotten a critique...
BTW, here are my stats, in the middle again, but better than the last one, which I liked...

I shot my proportion photo at 7 minutes before midnight, had it PhotoShopped at 3 minutes before midnight and uploaded at exactly 11:59. When I went to refresh to look at my entry, DPC paused to calculate the scores...
Wow! Too close for comfort!
I had been out all night, was not going to enter but thought of a subject at 11:45 DPC time... |

Talk about cutting it close! Glad you got it in under the wire. I'm sure it's great.
I accidentally unsubmitted my photo at about 11:40 pm server time (I was trying to look at my entry and clicked on unsubmit instead of view photo page) and then panicked...but I got it back on at 11:45. Whew! It's still hovering just above 6.0...maybe this time will be a personal best. I have given up trying to figure out what the voters want!

Terrible feeling when your shot is sinking....and you don't know why.
THEN like magic someone says...'hey! you over exposed it, or you chopped off the guys head'.....it does help.
Until your sitting there thinking....wow is it that bad?
then you really won't applicate how not commenting can hurt a person.
Besides they have to hit the refresh button double time, they get arthiritis in their fingers, use some stink cream {Ben Gay}, get a divorce and end up living on the street. Help! Don't be part of the problem! :D |

I always appreciate the comment I get, usually they are very helpful. The comments on proportion tho... some say I show no proportion, others say I did a great job showing proportion. ???

In the 5 comments my image has been described as 'clever', 'awesome', and well-composed. It employs text book use of 'rule of thirds', IMHO. Nobody said it didn't meet the challenge even. Wish someone would just out with it and tell me it's a downright boring shot so I can move on and accept the fact that it won't break the 6 barrier. :)

As I am voting for proportion it dawned on me that some people thought it was a hi-lo poker format challenge. Some have gone for high by doing a good proportion shot while others have gone for low by doing a lack of shot. Can we give two sets of ribbons? |

People obviously don't read challenge guidelines before they vote and/or enter images. Maybe if the title of this challenge had read "Proportion or Lack Thereof" they would have "gotten it". I mean, how frikken explicit do you need to be? Come on people.

From another post at the start of the challenge I said,
Originally posted by garrywhite2: Take a shot that shows proportion or the lack thereof
Sounds like there is going to be a lot of unhappy voters. Comments of "Does not meet the challenge" seems impossible.
Best of luck all |
Seems appropriate that I would get a comment of "Proportion? Am I missing sometihing."
