How can I create a watermark that I can easily paste onto my proof files?

I have created a new file with transparent background, typed in my proof and reduced the opacity of that text to about 20% but when I copy and paste, the text is not transparent at all. Any advice?

I want to clarify that I want the opacity to already be set when I paste it so I don't have to change it every time I paste it onto a new file. Too many clicks!

Never mind...I figured it out.

Once I had the type layer the opacity I wanted it, I did "select all" and "copy merged". Before I was just doing "copy". When I pasted onto my proof file, it was already the opacity I wanted it.

I wish I could do it all in one quick step or as an action or batch processing. It's a pain doing each one individually.
