heh. we're up to 5, this morning.

keep in mind that western NC is also the mountains. so, while you are further north, I believe I am higher in elevation.

Yes that makes sense since we are only about 200 ft above sea level. It's now 15F. it got up to 17F. I think tonight it will be in the single digits. We don't get this cold very often(thank goodness).

5º right now, warmest we've been all week...lol. It got down to -30º last night. FLIPPIN COLD!

Funny story: at my college, there's this tradition where after the first snow all the guys from one guys' dorm run in their boxers and ONLY their boxers to meet the guys from the other guys' dorm (who are fully clothed...wimps) and they all have a gigantor wrestling match. So the first snow was on Wednesday, so the Boxer Run was on Wed. night....only it was -6º outside and that's not even counting the windchill, lol!! There were some very cold men that night. (Really funny to watch, tho...)

ETA a few pics (note: these are NOT MINE, I'm not THAT much of a creeper...they're copyright my good friend Josh Voigts)

Robert, I thought you were supposed to eat a fallen comrade when you were lost in the cold, not yourself :)

It was 21 F this morning and warmed up to 40 F this afternoon. 33.1 F right now...but as our current weather pattern has shown us, it will be near 70 F tomorrow. If you don't like the weather in Texas, just wait a few minutes.

I got up this morning, 5ish, to -27, not sure what the wind chill was to go with that. When I took the kids to school at 10:30 (two hour delay) it was a balmy -16. and now it is -9, with wind chill warnings again for tonight. But it going to warm up overnight so it can snow 3-6" tomorrow.

Today it was 79F here - I'm not liking it. When you live in the equivalent of hell, you are not appreciative of warm days in January.

19 degrees above 0 and still climbing, finally a warm day! Our Kids have been trapped indoors Since Wed night going to be nice to let them outside for a little bit today to burn off all that bottled up energy not to mention give mom and dad a little quiet time.

well it supposedly feels like -8F right now - noon and sunny. however when the dogs try to walk on two feet - alternating opposite front and back legs - you know it feels colder than that...

i feel bad - but they forget how cold it is - and they gotta poop - right ?

oh - and to try to save fuel/money - it's a balmy 55 inside ! humidity is low though.

as a side note - we are looking for a new mattress. we looked into those pricey tempurpedic ones. comfy right ? expcept the sales guy told us that if we don't keep the bedroom above 68 or so - the foam doesn't re-expand properly.... the air in the foam contracts...

In nearby Berlin, NH it was -20F this morning when a fire detroyed two buildings on Main Street. Firefighters from several communities fought the fire in shifts to keep from freezing. One firefighter was injured when a hose burst. These guys are true heroes to fight in these conditions.

The area, including all large portion of Main Street, was covered with ice before the fire was out.
