I can't stream CNN here in Aus, but have seen the pictures.
Planes are designed to float. Its actually a regulatory requirement.
Also, it didn't really crash on the water. The pilot set it down as he had lost power to an engine (flew through a flock of geese). As a result, the hull is in tact.
Looks positive that all should get out ok, with a very interesting flying story to tell. |

Watched the live video as the cockpit went under.......with the Web, nothing's secret any more.
Kind of an eerie thing to watch it sink.

well thats the first time i ever heard of life vests being handy, always thought they should have parachutes under our seats
(just kidding - before anone points out how you cant just jump out of the plane etc etc) |

| Great job by the pilots, this could have been very ugly. Sounds like every one survived and not many injuries. |

These were taken from a distance of about 10 blocks and 16 stories up, through highly tinted window glass. I didn't bother to straighten the horizon on the first.
