Two per month! That would certainly be an exercise in delayed gratification! ;) |

thanks Dave! That's what I figured, and I understand there isn't much you guys can do about it. |

ouch! I see, freedom of speech is out, Nitscheanism is in. :)
Seriously, if the thing is going out of control, perhaps site owners should consider further reducing the number of slots for "free members", or eliminating their right to submit altogether? Or have a more sliding scale: for one submission a week - X dollars/yr, for 2 - Y, for 3 - Z, etc. That will probably force me finally to buy a membership. I have been hesitant to do it since I don't want to be tempted to keep submitting all the time. |

Interesting ideas. Although, Lev, just because you become a paying member, you don't have to send in images all the time, you know. Pay up, and just send images when you think you got something you might like to see published. More fun that way. :)

I'm a paying member who rarely submits. I also pay here and don't enter challenges.
I'm a vendor's dream. |

I know, and perhaps I should. But I can't guarantee that I won't be compulsively using all my slots and clog your pipeline even more. I have way too many photos in my archive... :) |

Is that a resubmit, Steve? What did you do differently if it is? |

My name was watermarked in the lower left-hand corner. It was an illegible blob and very small, so I didn't notice it in the sized-down version. I removed it and re-submitted.
This is also way different from the DPC version. I used split-toning and experimented with the grain filter in LR3 beta.

If that had been rejected then something would be very wrong with the world of 1X.

Both are excellent Steve!
I entered my weekly reject in the November free study, so I won't post it. Didn't make it to member screening. |

It was a little redemption, getting published after placing a measly 12th in Centered Composition. It scored well but I was honestly very disappointed considering it had like 18 comments and 7 favorites before voting ended. |

Oh well, I tried entering my yet highest scoring DPC-photo.
(but higher res and without the border)
But no, rejected. At least it got through to member screening so I got a motivation: "lacks impact". What is impact, really?

Speaking personally, photo impact is the visceral reaction one has to the subject, composition, or "artfulness" of a photograph. If a photo does not make you pause for thought in some meaningful way, it has no impact. Yes, it's very subjective and nebulous; but 1x.com is full of photos with impact, and impact has many different meanings to the very many different type of people there. |

I posted a shot and it says on my account photo "on screening" but I cant see it. Is this normal? |

Yes, that's normal. That means it is being considered - you will eventually get an email one way or another (published or rejected) and if published, you will see it. You can't "screen" your own photo so you won't see it while it is in screening. |

Latest reject
I wasn't planning to submit it except I accidently uploaded it burning my 1 upload for the week so why not? Well this now makes it 0-5 with colorful photos. Judging by some of the recent published photos maybe I should find whatever lends itself to a more extreme detail/saturation explosion and maybe I'll have more luck with that? Or maybe just stick with the b/w and muted colors since I have more luck with that (80% success rate).

Rejected
Additional feedback: Of those who voted against your image, four indicated that there is a problem with impact, four noted motif as a weakness and three selected composition as a reason for not publishing the image.
WTF? |

Left you a comment on my opinion on the reason for the rejection. |
