Anything that would be in a cookbook! For example, here's the 3rd place winner from the Healthy Food Challenge by danielcheong1974.

Come up with a unique and effective way to capture the art of cooking (food) such that it could be used on a website or on a brochure.
They put the word "food" in there after the word "cooking". After seeing a lot of website stock pictures with the search word cooking hardly any of them have cooking or people cooking in them. I think most people are going to enter food stock pictures like ingredients and spices and utensils and other creative things that could be on a cooking website or brochure. I am going to vote on the food picture or food related picture and not on if it is being cooked or if someone is cooking it.

When I went looking for food and cooking material, I Googled recipes -
Here is a random results sample:
epicurious
Kraft Foods
Food Network
There are many more for inspiration.

I interpreted it without question as the activity of cooking NOT just a food shot. It's not at all unclear. Show food in the process of being cooked. That's a challenge to do and more of one to make look good.
I think that should be cleared up in an official thread because the folks that enter a simple, nice food shot will get totally reemed by the entrants that tried to capture the activity and they may very well deserve it but who needs the mess. Both are difficult and they are two different things. The activity of cooking isn't pretty while the finished product can be. Maybe a naked girl putting the final touches on a Sundae....mmmmmm!
A food shot, while it has it's challenges, is easier to make pretty (easy wow factor) than capturing the process itself. Some voters won't care... and some will but in the end if a sexy food shot wins, people might be pissed.

This idea will kick ass if you want to really upset the voters...
Hell Yeah!!!
That's what we're talkin about.
eta: nothing I posted is particularly Stock worthy, imo but in the right direction.

I had the same interpretation as pawdrix. I'd thought about it and the deciding factor for me was that showing the actual cook fit better with the alternative, "businessman". In other words, showing a person in either but in different professions.
*shrug* But what do I know? :) |
