It's +20ºF here in central Pennsylvania......

With 60mph winds that have already taken down the power lines once......

Supposed to slack off in the middle of the night and go screaming up to +25º tomorrow.

Heat wave......8>)

Never been able to figure out why at this latitude our freakin' winters are so nasty!

They say it's going to get down to around 50 F here tonight, maybe 5 to 7 deg colder for a couple of nights coming up. Wind here is maybe .5 to 1 mph, clear skies.
Tomorrow is the state KC BBQ cook off and we will be launching watermelons for entertainment. High tomorrow is going to be 73.
I can't understand how people can live where it is that cold all winter, and have to put up with all that cold and snow, then the mess when it melts. It's pretty to go there and visit, but I tried Michigan for about 6 months and found it depressing.
Pa is beautiful when it snows.

Hard to see the aurora in the fog :( They are calling for -50F by Saturday night. I hope that is not when you wre planning the trip north!

I have postponed the trip to Fairbanks for a bit as they have not had any really strong aurora forecast. I watch the web site like a hawk.

As for the temps - it is already -30 at 9pm, and they are saying at least -40 through the night

It's 8 degrees right now - and I was really enjoying all of them when I was waiting outside for someone to help get the door open :P

Yeh Judi, how hot is it. Supposed to be another couple of days of this before it cools down a bit on the sunshine coast. Heading to Yamba (NSW coast) for a couple of weeks holiday. In a caravan....no air con. I hope the weather is nice camping weather. Pleeeeeeeese.

A low of 70 and a high of 77 degrees today...but that's why I moved here from New England five years ago.

Happy New Year.

I would love to invite Al Gore to Big Lake, Alaska right about now. HIm and his rubbish about global warming. Last summer we only hit 70 four times....colder than usual. Now this winter we are having an extra long frigid cold snap. For the past 10 days, we have been between -30 and -40 degrees at night, and during the day have not gotten above -20 degrees. I have not had running water for 5 days now. The water pipes have been thawed out, and the well line too, but the well itself is still a solid block of ice. :|

It was in the 70s here today. More of the same tomorrow. Arctic front is supposed to come in this weekend, i think it's going to drop to the low 50s.

Very disappointed. Yesterday they said that here we would get up to 10cm of snow today (but a little less in Tokyo). However, nothing except a few spots of cold rain. Now the forecast has been changed to later rain. It has been snowing in Nikko, according to the live webcam.

It's been really warm here comparatively. Lots of chinooks. As of right now, it's 41 degrees fahrenheit, and it's 9:51 at night and in Colorado in the coldest month of the year!

on monday morning we had a ridiculous -27°C, that went "up" to -16 over the day.
since then it continuously stayed well below -5, today it's around -8ish or so with even more snow over the night. i think the last time i recall having seen that much snow and low temperatures over that long of a period of time was during my stay in iceland two years ago...

just took this 10 minutes ago:
