I'm still learning to use some of the "doohickeys" in Photoshop Elements. I'll never get all of them. I started experimenting with the "colorful center" effect with this picture of my gardenia, and I wanted to know if this is an acceptable effect or if it's just stupid. I tried all different kinds of effects, just to see what would happen (I never read the instructions...I just mess with it until it looks right to me). Just wondering what others thought about it.

For that shot, I think it works pretty well. However, I wonder if you wouldn't have done even better yourself using masks. I think their effects are generally "quick and dirty", and with some patience, you can get a better effect by applying similar methods in a artist-controlled manner. |

To my knowledge, you can't do "masks" in Elements. |
