I saw this Great Blue Heron today while on a walk through our local park looking for suitable pictures for the 'where you live' challenge.
I wasn't able to get real close but it's not bad although some washed out areas on top of his head.

I think it's lovely...of course I have no idea what I'm doing, so adding anything constructive would be nearly impossible. If that is not "real close" I'd hate to see what CLOSE looks like! One of my favorite aspects of this site is getting to see so many animals in their habitats...since I can't go many places around here to see them, it's wonderful to see the gorgeous wildlife photos like yours. Keep up the good work!

It might be neat if you tried to clone out the branches in front of it's head.

The sad thing about this Heron is that he must have recently been hurt by another animal. One of his wings were hanging down and he will not be able to survive... ;(. My wife and I tried to find a conservation officer to no avail.
It pains me to see this and I hope we can get someone quickly that can put him down... :( He won't be able to fly anywhere so he will be easily found.
Please do not open the picture below if it offends you to see a hurt animal...

Have you tried notifying the local SPCA? They can probably get some wilflife rescue people to check out the heron. |
