Dropped my camera this evening (on a carpeted floor, from tripod height) and my "nifty fifty" came apart. Nothing looks obviously broken, almost as if it flexed and popped apart. It appears to have some plastic clips that hold it together, but just wiggling the two halves gently, nothing pops back in place. Anybody ever try to put one of these back together?

| I've heard of that happening to those and I've heard rumors about them being put together again, but I don't have any personal experience with that. At least, as far as lenses go, it was probably one of the least expensive lenses you could have chosen to drop. |

That's for sure. If i can't get it back together, I'll just obtain another one in the near future. I think maybe the reason it broke is because it is the cheap lens. |

| I had a quote recently to have a slightly damaged (but optically sound) 85mm 1.8 repaired, and it would've cost me the same as I'd paid for the lens in the first place. So in this case I'd be astonished if it weren't cheaper just to buy a new one, or to see this as a sign/excuse to upgrade to a 1.4! |
