Our backyard from my office porch around 11:30pm...
I just finished shoveling 6" from the house to the office and by the time I was done, there was another inch on the path.
On a positive note, I am building my own Matterhorn just off the back porch! :D |

For the scenery and because I had to satisfy my need to move yet once more time. PLus I hated the 90's in the summer time coupled with high humidity. I have yet another place I would love to move to, but since I do not have citizenship for Ireland I'd have a hard time getting work. :/ I do miss the Upper Peninsula though. If Michigan economy wasn't so bad and I could get a job there I would even consider moving back.
Most everyone here plugs in the block heaters when it gets that cold so the vehicle starts just fine. Even my work place has outlets on posts in the parking lot for us to plug into.

We just saw on the news that chains or other traction devices are required over the whole of Washington County (Portland Oregon area). I guess no one told them that tire chains are not a viable alternative. :D
Highway 84 through the Columbia River Gorge is closed due to blizzard-like conditions, and there are several other road closures around the area.
Some friends that live up our street called and told us their power is out. Luckily they have a generator. They think it was caused by freezing rain knocking trees and branches down on the power lines.
Me and Becky bundled up this afternoon around 4:00 PM and trekked the 550' out to our mail box. The snow was so deep and powdery! We were nearly exhausted by the time we got back to the house. The wind was blowing it in every direction at the same time too. It was kind of strange to watch snow falling up. We have several snow drifts that are about 3-4 feet deep now. I took some photos yesterday, but the snow was only 6-8 inches deep then. I wanted to take some this afternoon, but the wind was blowing so hard it was close to a whiteout. I'll try to get some tomorrow.
Whether you use chains or experience+prayers for traction, drive safely guys!

Hey bugz, that looks so familiar. We got 11 inches on Friday, and another 4 inches last night and the wind is blowing like crazy right now. We have another big storm coming up Tuesday night and I'm sick of it already. |

Hey Pugs, we went to Ireland two years ago and absolutely loved it. We are planning on going again when our ship comes in LOL. We want to go back because there is so much that we missed because we just didn't have the time. We started in Dublin and drove south and west and went to Kilkenny, Wexford, Dingle Peninsula, Doolin , and Galway.
Here are some of my Ireland pics on my flickr account.

I think you and I are neighbors. I am at the west end of Columbia Gorge....we have 1 to 2 foot snow drifts, and about 6 to 8 inches in our backyard. I love it. I hope it sticks around until Christmas. I have no idea how to drive in it, so were walking all over the place. |

Just remember that the hard part is stopping. Once you start on a slide it doesn't matter what you have on your tires. |

Ah yes... Dingle... The Conor Pass... I remember them well.
It was all of 3 months ago I was there last, and I'm going again in 4 days time. Jealous yet? (My parents live in Co. Kerry!) :-D Funny thing is, I never bother taking landscape pics down there. |

iI was forewarned that Seattle had a lot of ran... folks forgot to mention, sometimes that rain's frozen and comes down as SNOW. So us Warmer-climate girls are adjusting as best we can:
The dog has learned to drink "frozen" water from our daughter's hands:
After a long day of helping to shovel (lol- she lasted minutes), she finally gives up and decides to make snow angels:
Living on a steep hill that opens into traffic at the bottom, I wouldn't allow my daughter to sled down it. Not wanting her to be disappointed, I opted to find another way to led her sled... Needless to say, my back hurts now!
