He had a "two crimes for the price of one" coupon.

Convicted of armed robbery, kidnapping, and some other stuff in mid-October. Sentenced today to 15 years in prison.

How long until he gets in trouble in prison? Is he going to be a Shanker or is he just going to be Shanked?

Also how long do you think it will be before the jackass writes a book about this experience and tries to make a profit? Hopefully he will get shanked long before he has a chance to write one.

Simpson is a haunted and broken man, and I have to say I feel sorry for him. 15 years for this is a little bit overkill, IMO. He needs a lot more than prison time, but he's one of those people that won't accept help, so perhaps it's for the best.

He's a product of a broken society, IMO. Hero worship leading to superego, leading to an invincibility syndrome.

So sad.

I hope you guys have not forgotten that this is not the first serious crime this man committed. He is a cold blooded killer that because of some horrible justice system errors and a team if boobs got away with Murder, Now he is getting locked up for 15 years for Armed Robbery and people are going to feel sorry for him. WOW Thats quite soft. He deserves much more than the 15 years of which he will only have to serve a little over half of.

If something is never proven, then I don't condemn someone for it.

As an aside, he doesn't directly affect my life, so there's no reason for anger or hatred on my part. Compassion and pity, on the other hand, don't cost anything.

It was proven in the civil suit. It was proven in the criminal trial too but the Jury wasn't convinced.

Depends where you live ... some taxpayers somewhere will be paying about $50,000/year to keep him in prison, not counting court and attorney/staff costs for the inevitable appeals.

For armed robbery and kidknapping?? I'm sure he would've loved to of had you for a judge. He should have gotten the maximun just for being the idiot he has proven himself to be over and over again. The man is a menace to society and himself.

The "standard of proof" in a civil trial is a lot lower than it is in a criminal trial. He was tried of murder and acquitted. If we're going around second-guessing the legal system and wishing ill on people who have been acquitted of wrongdoing, well that's both uncivilized and pointless IMO.

As K10DGuy points out, there's a cost (to you) for such feelings. Compassion, on the other hand, is an elevating thing.

I have compassion for people who do good things in life then get crapped on by someone. I will never pity someone who could kill someone use big money lawyers and loopholes to walk from it then be stupid enough to wrtie a book and try to profit from the story and then go rob someone while armed. I save my pity for people who actually deserve it.

Compassion and pity are not the same thing. And compassion does not imply forgiveness, for that matter. I feel compassion for anyone facing a prison term; that they do or do not "deserve" it is irrelevant.
