So here I am with CS4 trying out the GPU enhanced features.. Turned off the `flick panning` gimmick. But being able to zoom the image at 33% or 66% (or other custom sizes) without that jagginess is heaven... Why hasnt this been possible before and why is it only possible now with GPU processing. I am sure other inferior packages have been able to manage this in the past, why has it taken Adobe so long to catch up - or am I missing something?

Other than that CS4 is great, glad I waited a version before upgrading.

EDIT - Whilst I have you attention, does anyone know of a key I can hold down that temporarily allow me to zoom in and out with the mouse wheel? I dont want it as a permanent feature, kinda like holding down space to pan around.. cheers.

You can use the Alt key.
Hint: to keep the zoom from hitting goofy percentages (ie. 115.37%) hold Alt + Shift while using the scroll wheel.

also keyboard shortcuts are control minus and plus. I have known about the alt-mousewheel for a long time, but I use the straight keyboard shortcut far more often. I also usually go in and out 2 taps at a time so I don't even see the jagginess. I find it a lot faster than using the mousewheel.

Of course, I don't use the mouse very much with my setup. Mostly keyboard and tablet stylus, so I don't like moving my hand over to the mouse...

Why would Adobe put all their eggs in one basket? Just like everybody else the want your money. They love the people that think they have to upgrade everytime they add a new gimmick or 2.
