Funny skit by Bill Engvall, that inspired me to start this. Lets here the questions you've encountered that make you want to say Here's your sign. If you don't get it listen to the skit (Bill Engvall - Here's Your Sign).
I'll start us out:
I had my camera out (with the 70-200L on) and was standing on the sidelines of the football game shooting. As I was walking to the other side, still with my camera in hand a lady asked me "You taking pictures of the game?"
I wanted to say "Nope, just using it to swat away the flies" or something ridiculous, but I refrained and just said "Yup".
Share your encounters.

That sounds like The old MAD Magazine feature "Snappy Answers To Stupid Questions" (I think by Don Martin). My favorite of those:
DENTIST: Did that hurt?
PATIENT: No, but I'm afraid you may have damaged your chair when the drill came out the back of my neck. |

I had a semi-amusing one just this weekend.
I took my XBox 360 over to my brother and sister-in-law's place because they'd just bought a fancy new 42" Plasma, and I was going to show off HD movies (with the HD-DVD player) and then we'd play a little guitar hero.
Well, I had set everything up and then noticed that there were no plug-ins by where I needed them, and just then, as I'm standing there with is plug in my hand, looking all over the place my sister-in-law quips, "You looking for a plug-in?"
"Oh, no, I'm concentrating on opening a hole in the space-time continuum, as they have cleaner energy in other dimensions."
I got a bun thrown at my head for my effort. |

I had a car break down at 2:00 AM in Holbrook Arizona one night. As I was standing there with the hood-up, in the middle of the intersection, the local cop stopped and asked, "You having car trouble?"
I really wanted to answer, and what was your first clue Dick Tracy? But I settled for, "Yes", and figured I could guess why he was on the late shift.
ETA: To add, this is not meant to disrespect all those great men and women who protect our cities and streets on a daily basis. It's just another example of brain pharts to which we all can be subject to.

You would not believe the number of times a lady who was just stopped for speeding will tell a police officer, "But I was always told you didn't give speeding tickets to pretty young women" to which one is tempted to reply: "You're absolutely right Maam... sign here please"

That reminds of the Marx Brothers gag:
Mrs Rittenhouse (I think, played by Margaret Dumont): Why, I've never been so insulted in my life.
Groucho: I find that hard to believe.
About twenty years ago, I was taking photos of fireworks in Kumamoto. My friend said, "Don't you need a flash?" Then she said, "Oh, that was a stupid question." |
