hmmm if the Klondike bar is the one with chocolate and carmel in it... I'm not quite sure what I'd do because that is pretty darn yummy. I'll have to think about that one lol

Haha. That's ok. I think the thread was pretty much dead anyway.

I enjoy your comments. They add some life and humor to the site. In regards to how they are as a comment, ideally they would all contain some info on what you did/didn't like technically and artistically about the photo. Having said that... I know you do so many damn comments it makes my head spin, and I couldn't even imagine doing that many comments, and I understand that not all photos give you something to say about the technical and artistic details. It's far better than the "great shot" we're all guilty of in some form or another, but is a bit below (in my book) a careful critique (though I think you said you do comments of this variety for some too, I just haven't received one yet).
I like them just the way they are, and think you should continue.

Thank you. You're the second person to have suggested that I add some kind of critique to the comments. My only thought is that there really is enough of that already and that I'm trying to go for a pure aesthetic to counter that, which I don't see much of at all. Outside of the Free Study, I do occasionally do the standard "this is this and that is that and I like this and I don't like that and I would have done this, and maybe you could have done that", but it does grow a bit tiresome. The Free Study experiment is specifically done to get away from that.

I do understand that it is helpful to get some technical feedback on a photo, but as for artistically, isn't that what these comments are all about?

As a proud receiver of a couple K10D comments, I can tell it's very helpful, as it showed me completely different ways of looking at an image. It kind of elevates the image to a different level, and for that I'm thankful. I wouldn't dare asking you to continue doing so, as the task looks to me so demanding (I would estimate that even if I had the verbal creativity, it would take me at least half an hour a piece). Critique is always helpful, but I would skip it if it distracts the flow of your line of thoughts.

I agree 100% that they are refreshing and fun, and that's why I think you should keep to doing them. Having said that, strictly speaking this is a photography site and your comments do not aid the photographer in a concrete way. I would argue, however, that they do in an abstract way, in that they are cheerful and amusing. And like I said, I totally understand that saying "needs more/less contrast, more/less sharpening, more/less exposure blah blah blah" is at the very best, drudgery. As far as artistically, I guess I would say you are giving captions, not comments, which is adding your own artistic ability to the photo, in a way that cannot be applied given the challenge rules (unless the challenge somehow became, write a story about a photo you discarded in the past" or something like that (which would be interesting, but would not be focusing on photography anymore).
And I guess I don't want it to seem that I think you should change them. I'm just explaining where on the continuum of usefulness for me they fall. They cheer me up and add a chuckle to my day, which is an abstract aid. I don't think you could really combine that with the concrete aid I was speaking of, which is unfortunate, but then again, I don't think that was your intent in the first place, right?
