DD is now allowing replacements for wayward members for DPC Olympics. Team USA Northeast is looking for one new member.

Do you like clam chowder?
Can you say lobster? (hint: It rhymes with pasta)
Do you know what kind of food a hogie or submarine is?

Never mind! What we really need is:
- A fun person who has or is willing to get a Flickr account
- Someone who will submit a photo for open challenges for the next 6 weeks
- Someone who will be open to and willing to give constructive critism on the team photos
- Someone who lives on the Earth and at least once heard of something related to the Northeastern United States

Our exalted leader Jake is camping in the wilderness till Sunday. At that time he will pick our new member based on "picking names out of a hat", "whoever has the coolest username", or whatever else he comes up with.

Do you like clam chowder? Hate it, both kinds
Can you say lobster? (hint: It rhymes with pasta) <--- only in Boston.
Do you know what kind of food a hogie or submarine is? A grinder, LOL.

I already belong to team UK, but here is a friendly bump.

Credentials for a Nor'Easter....

I was thrown out of some of the finest schools in NE.

I knew what Freeport ME was to outdoor people before they were everywhere....

The Ski School Director for 18 years at LOON Mountain has The exact same name as I, Jeb Boyd......

I can say "Ayuh" with the proper accent......

I've done combat driving on the SE Expressway....

I lost my virginity in Connecticut....

Oh, I also stayed on Wood Island for a Thanksgiving vacation......accessible only by boat from Biddeford....brought my cat, Kopek home from there.....

And yes, I like clam chowder and that red stuff they call Manhattan is NOT real clam chowder!

Not only can I say Lahbsta, I've caught them and cooked them in Maine.....steamed in Molson.

Molson Red, not that Golden crap they send to the lower states.....

Might I be considered????

Downsides:

I'm pretty weird & flaky.....ask anyone at Team Suck.

Sometimes I have *NO* creative inspirations on the challenge topics.

I have a Flickr Pro account, but I have yet to figure out the Secret Handshake as to how to send someone a link, pass, gate key, whatever that they may view an image the rest of the world cannot.....

Hey, just 'cause this guy lives in New Hampster doesn't make him an automatic shoo-in, right??

Meh, I'll opt for consideration.
Reasons you should all love me:
My username is surely the coolest so far.
I love chowder, especially with a good hoagie.
I occasionally pretend (badly) that I'm from Boston with one of my friends, talking about how we love to "dump te in da hawba."
I live in Colorado, so when the weather goes down the crapper, my images can suck along with all of you Nor'Easters due to snow and cold.
I go backpacking in the wilderness, like your fearless leader.
Why you should hate me:
Closest I've been is Pennsylvania.
I would need to get a Flickr account.
I've no clue how this whole thing works so I would be le enfant. (more referring to the Flickr aspect, I understand the points and entering part)
If my hand is forced, it may turn out to hold a shoehorn.
ETA to add clarity to my confusion

Oh...the pressure! I'm Jake, the appointed leader of this merry mess for the next few weeks. I had no idea any of this was going on as I have been blissfully away from the internet Since Sunday. A man, a kayak, and a camera. (and a tent, sleeping bag, and whatever I could cram into two hatches.) I was really hoping for something really fitting for the challenges this week, and come home to "blue," and "red." lol But, I was on a beach for the week, so hopefully I'll come up with something. I guess I'll definitely have a free study entry...

Anyway! I'm thinking that I will check this thread again in the AM, and then I'll draw a name out of a hat... Seems fair, right? I'll send a PM to the new teammate tomorrow, and if you need help getting a flickr account set up, figuring out the group, etc, we'll all be glad to help.

We really haven't been using it much since the games officially started, but here's the linky to our team thread. Might give you ab idea of what your getting into! :-)

Heading down to Marco Island florida, hoping to hit the everglades for a couple days and Ding darling national wildlife refuge. I even heard there is a national eagle sanctuary down there somewhere.... I will also be looking for that. Hope to get some nice shots.

Funny that... I'm in Florida! lol I've never been to the Glades, though I've been meaning to get there. I've also heard really good things about Ding Darling. Both are really popular kayaking destinations! As for the Eagles, I was shocked to know that there are so many here in Florida. I would have figured it was to hot, as I grew up in Iowa and there are literally hundreds and hundreds that come to winter on the Mississippi River. I saw three on the trip I just got back from, but they were two far away to get any good shots. Have a great time!

Whoa!

I had a time-share on Marco for about 25 years.....lovely quiet place.

There are also a lot of ospreys......just look up driving through the 'Glades.....there are platforms built up there for their nests.

The anninghas (Water Turkeys) are pretty cool, too.....they dive into the water after fish, then sit on tree branches, fence posts, whatever holding their wings out to dry.

There's all kinds of neck birds.....cranes, herons, egrets, spoonbills, and some of the biggest damn, ugly/cool spiders you could possibly imagine.

You have to go into the 'Glades pretty deep to see gators.

If you get a chance, Corkscrew Swamp Wildlife Sanctuary is up near Naples and is only a short drive.

I love Florida.....every day on Marco at the end of the day for a half hour to an hour, the skies would open up over the 'Glades, and out over the Gulf for simultaneous electrical storms, and then would give the most gorgeous sunsets over the water.

Have a good time, and also if you get a chance, on the island of Goodland, there's a restaurant called The Little Bar that is just off-the-charts good.....not fancy, but fabulous seafood.

Remember, you're right there on the Gulf, eat SHRIMP!!!!!!
