A friend of mine just hired me to take pictures of her newborn twins, a boy and a girl on Tuesday.

I'm thrilled. Her sister's twins were my 1st portraits several years back and I hope to do some better work this time around.

If you have seen any wonderfull ideas, I'd love to hear about them. We figure I have about an hour worth of stamina for the newborns.

Wahoo!

Hi Rebecca,

Sounds cool! I hope the shoot goes well. Talk to the mum and talk about the feeding time for the kids. The mum will know when the kids are cranky, when they are awake (if only breifly), and when they sleep like...well, like babies. Get her to time the feeding around the shoot so you get the babies in the mood you want. My memory is fading, but I think they are normally awake and happy just after a feed, and after a little while they'll fall solidly asleep. Some babies will be awake and alert half an hour before a feed, then get grumpy, have a feed, and fall asleep feeding. Anyway, the mum will know.

I hope the shoot goes well!

I think you'll find, with newborns, that an hour is going to be a LOT of time. You'll probably even find yourself sitting around a bit.

Just remember, newborns don't do much at all, so it's up to your (and the parents') imaginations and some good Google searches, to keep yourself entertained.

Good luck with them, I'm jealous!

I had to reschedule to Friday - I had another shoot booked at the same time, same day.

Tomorrow is the big day.
