This is where I came in. 8)
Thanks to Karen for getting The Pinhole Movement going. Thanks to everyone who participated. IMNSHO, we turned out some nice work. I'm looking forward to intermittent pinholing until the next big Pinhole Gatherining in April.
Happy Holidays to all. |

Managed to sneak one more in on the last day. Still owe a half dozen or so comments...
And apologies for never getting an SP accomplished during the month...fell right off my radar. But Ecce Signum did enough for all of us. :)

Brian, congrats on your move up to dSLR (and instant move down to pinhole lol). No need to wait until April as there are a few regular pinhole/zoneplate challenge submitters and I'm sure Karen will keep these threads going to encourage us all ;) |
Thanks, Andi and Karen. I oredered two lenses with my new camera, and my first shots might be with neither of them! Long live low-tech... |

LOL Brian and I'll add pinhole not pin sharp to that ;)
Been a weird day in the Masters and briefly got to 5.52 before falling back to 5.4. Still a long way to go and just got my first 10 vote along with a fav so am still feeling upbeat about the magical 5.5 and it doesn't look like a brown either :) |

you might want to turn your scores off, Andi :)
it was painful to see my Periodic Table entry rise above 5.6 and then steadily get hit back down to 5.3 through the week - dashed hopes and all that.
good luck and I hope it breaks the 5.5 ceiling for you, but you might not want to watch it moment by moment... |

Karen, thanks a bunch for doing the side challenge. Great job, everyone - there were some lenless masterpieces created. Good luck on that 5.5 Andi... |

Should have heeded your advice Karen, climbed to the dizzy height of 5.6 yesterday and currently down to 5.4628. Just 0.0052 away from the holy grail of lensless scores ;) If I don't make it I'm pretty sure it will become the highest pinhole shot, so, for that alone I'm happy. 2 voters have called it out as a pinhole shot. |

I thought about commenting right after rollover, but I figured I'd give someone else a shot at the free membership for a while first. :) |

ooh, so close yet so far! I did spend a good 36 hours above 5.51 but ended up 0.0693 off target.
Still, I did get the pinhole highest score (for now) and was quite shocked to see the commenters average vote was over a 7! just need 100 comments a challenge lol.
big thanks to Karen for pushing me to try out this rather cool photography method and, it spurned a new word from posthumous!
This photo is krnodilesque. I love its simplicity and mystery. |

I agree with your comment on that linked post, Gordon, that some of this lensless/crappy lens exploration is down to backlash, or just plain boredom, with the sharp-is-everything expectation in digital photography. |

I think the results are kinda interesting. I'm thinking of buying myself two Christmas presents - a ready-made zone plate and a Lensbaby. |

Yeah, a lot of great comments, most of which I agree with. I think anything over 5.5 is a great score (at DPC) for an image requiring this much participation from the viewer -- congratulations! |

Heh! I saw that. Too bad the accessory won't work alone. Or will it??? |

well it's made to be interchangeable with the any of the new lensbabies (muse, composer, control freak) - you just pop in the optic you want to use. So if you buy yourself a new lensbaby (not one of the older models) you can use that optic with it. |

Hmmm...... may have to give this some serious thought. They were out of stock at B&H when I looked. I can order directly from the Lensbaby site, right? Hmmm... |

@Gordon, have bookmarked your link
@General, yup, those that took the time to really look at it were most likely the commenters
@Karen, have been thinking about lensbabies but wondering if they are too 'high-tech' lol
and, @ Gordon again, thanks for the reminder about my dust covered SAKAR 500mm mirror ;) |

By 13:00hrs tomorrow I hope to be holding a nice new 'composer' and will save my pennies to get the single glass, plastic and pinhole/zoneplate toys in the new year :)
Am looking forward to setting my 2009 dpc goals lol |

I am insanely envious!! So much so that I guess I should order one. Are you getting yours locally or mail order? |

I tried using mine last night, to take a picture of a particular tree I've been wanting to shoot. I ended up 4 football fields away from the tree and could still only frame the crown. 500mm is awfully long telephoto, when trying to photograph quite large things. |
