Ok so i tried some action today at the first day of this karate tournament. It wasnt very productive, and for lack of better words it sucked. Out of 105 shots i liked about 2 and even those are flawed like crazy. Too much blur. Any advice on shooting something of this nature? I really have no expirience shooting things in action, and im not a fan of the tripod altho i do carryone around all the time(its great exercise).
Just so you guys have an idea of what the shots have come out like i have the two shots i liked here

Its in the randomness folder. I think the only changes to those pictures were in the form of contrast 25-30 and red photofilter at 45 i think, to take away the overly warm look it originally had.
Ideas... anyone? |

Not enough light. There isn't much you can do about it. Indoor lighting is usually not great for action shots. This is where the long lenses with big apertures come into play.
You could try a higher iso setting.

Thanks, dont think theres much i can do about the ISO. Nikon Coolpix 2000 is pretty much automatic in everyway. Not enough light? Damn and i thought there was too much, must be all the white uniforms. At least it looked like there was waaay too much in some of the other pictures. Gotta test it out some more tomorrow i guess. Thanks for the advice John.
BTW i dig the dummy from Ikea on your website, i got one just like it.
