I am going to Spain on May 8, for a week. I rented a 2 bedroom apartment for the week, but my travel buddy wimped out on me. If anyone is interested in a trip to Spain, with a little side trip to Morocco, please email me and I will give you the details.
The apartment is already paid for, you would just need airfare, and living expenses.

| I wish I could say " yes" to this idea! I lived in Madrid, Spain for over 3 years, and it is a beautiful place. It was many years ago, but I've seen recent travel type films that indicate not much has really changed. I wish you the best of luck finding someone wanting to travel....what a great opportunity for someone. I would also love to see the photographs you take and share. |

I know, but hubby will not let me go to Africa alone..... personally I think that might be safer.

I have a friend, a woman, who just returned from Capetown last Friday. She said she felt quite safe wandering about, even when alone. She was at a conference with a couple of hundred other people during the day, but made several side-trips during her stay with woman friend, and neither had any problem or ever felt uneasy. Of course, other parts of Africa may be a different story.

BTW, Barbara, that same woman got robbed last year in Madrid. She and a friend were approached by someone "looking for directions". She said that he "crowded" them a bit too closely, and that they felt a bit intimidated. They were trying to get away when another man came up and started hassleing the first guy and effectively chased him off. The second guy explained to the two women that he was a plain-clothes policeman and that the first guy was a "known pickpocket" who targeted unescorted women in the area. He asked the women to verify that nothing had been "stolen" from their person or purses. As they checked, they had to bring their purses up in front of them wheras previously they had, of course, kept them up tight under their arms. You can guess the rest - as soon as the purse was in the open he grabbed it and took off. She lost everything, including her passport. You can only imagine what a problem that represented.
Anyway, I don't want to ruin your trip to Spain, but do want you to have one that ends with only good memories. So do be careful and use extraordinary care.

Wow! What an offer. I may consider presenting similar offers in the future as I have a timeshare that can fit a lot of people and not many friends that can take vacations when I can.
Let me know how it goes. Just make sure to check up on your "travel buddy" too; wouldn't want them robbing you before you get to Spain. :) |

Well Jason, I hope you have better luck than I have had. There seem to be no takers on this one. Oh well, I will still enjoy myself.

I hope you have a great time Barbara.. and whoever goes with you.
You have to be careful anywhere in the world. So, although some of the advice you got should be taken, I would be careful even when in my own "backyard". :)
Can't wait to see your photos! |

The ones called Sea View and Spanish Sunrise are my favorites so far.
